A 15 hour boss rush with little to no exploration in between to grind or craft to help mitigate boss difficulty sounds terrible. Like what’s the last thing you want to do after fighting a super hard and frusterating boss…the answer is fight another boss, and to have a subject as immersive and deep as Chinese mythology that’s so fantastical and not give us an equally immersive world to explore seems like a travesty, this will be a good cutscene movie on gamers little playground that I sure. Linear makes such a low replay ability factor the o ly possible difference is the fights which is true about every game ever. I’m just seeing and hearing all the wrong things. This is literally the perfect subject for a massive world to explore…😢

1:01 lol no not thank god. Give me a world like Elden ring and red dead redemption 2 and skyrim you can’t go wrong with that. Everything else make your own but open world is just superior for immersion.
There’s a reason open world games like Elden ring, red dead redemption 2, Witcher 3, ghost of Tsushima, assassin’s creed odyssey, Zelda tears of the kingdom, fallout 4, and Skyrim are top dogs, because each person gets immersed into thier own unique experience. The lingering thought in the back of your head that your heading towards a secret keeps you constantly engaged wondering if your the first to find a certain interaction. Honestly just going from boss to boss sounds boring hopefully the story is engaging and there’s place to explore and grid and loot.
I like FPS's the most but will give this a try.
Can you confirm whether it is mission based (more like DMC or Nioh) rather than a connected world (Souls , FFXVI, or GoW 2018)? Also, is there much exploration, shortcuts, puzzle solving, collectibles (like Nioh Kodama) in the levels or is it just linear kill some enemies, boss fight, rinse, repeat? Single player only or some form of multiplayer co-op?
Somehow I wish Monkey voice actor is Dicky Cheung, the 1996 journey to the west hongkong series. He has the best act as monkey king even today in my opinion
Guarantee people are going to review bomb it because they suck at games that require skill and patience, same people who hate souls likes because they have 0 discipline and want instant gratification rather then slowly getting better.
Since it's not a souls like, I do hope it's still challenging enough to give me a sense of accomplishment.

This not being a souls-like is the best news I've gotten all year because I loooovvve the monkey king and I suuuucccckkk at souls like games.
The Journey To the West and the stories of the monkey king was a big part of my childhood growing up Chinese. Now-a-days I struggle to connect with my culture/heritage because most media I prefer to consume, are either hard to find or doesn't exist because, you know. Finding out one day that there is a video game built on everything my childhood revolved around, my excitement could hardly be contained.
Hope it doesn't get repetitive too quickly because it looks amazing
