Hi There
My kitten is now 8 months
Keeps biting the older cars neck, he keeps doing it every opportunity. The poor older cat who is nearly 14 doesn't want to attack him but he has held him down to stop it.
And advice please ..
I did intervene after a while as the older cat wasn't happy at all and very stressed.
Hoping they improve, the kitten behaves eventually.
Any further help will be beneficial.
Thank you as I've done and doing all said on this video.
We brought home a 2 year old cat from the shelter 2 months ago a male. Our residential cat is a female 11 years old. For the first 3 weeks he was sick and we kept them isolated because we didn’t want the other cat to get sick. I think the problem is the younger cat is bigger than the residential cat. However, the older female is in charge and won’t let the new cat downstairs to socialize with us. We have to go upstairs in his room or physically bring him downstairs with us. He is then uncomfortable and goes back upstairs to his room if I bring him downstairs. There is no more hissing or growling but constant chasing. No fights or injuries but the male is scared of the girl. I also think he likes being chased by the female cat. Sometimes he just comes down stairs by himself but never stays long in fear of female cat. I understand cats need to work this out but I really want the male to be comfortable downstairs and around the other cat. I want the other cat to stop intimidating the new cat and chasing them away. How do we do this?
this is my story: today we got a new cat and then it did not go well they kept screaming hissing and scratching so we and my dad need help to calm/recognize theses
We have had a cat for about 5 years now, she was soo friendly to us when we first met her, and we knew she was coming home with us, but we also found this new cat at the pet shop who was just dropped off there, and we felt sorry for him, and adopted him. like our first cat, he was very friendly. Our first ct did not like him at first but shhe quickly learned to tolerate and like him
Now the only thing they compete over is who gets to cuddle who
We got a kitten a couple weeks ago my other cat did not like her she was hissing growling and it wasn’t good but now a couple weeks later I find them on the couch cuddling together 😊
I got a new kitten but she growls because the aggressive one bit her
Hi everyone, I would love some advice.
We adopted our 4th cat two weeks ago.
We already have two sisters (7 years old) and a big boy (9 years old).
The new one (10 years old) was quarantined for one week after her vet checkup and all the necessary procedures. We slowly introduced her to the others.
They weren’t complete strangers to each other; the new cat was already familiar with them through their enclosed terrace in our garden.
Therefore, there was no hissing or any negative reactions from our indoor babies.
However, since she started roaming freely, the new cat hisses and growls whenever the others try to smell her, even the most innocent moves are not welcomed.
The others are trying to avoid her, and she seems afraid of them as well.
She has recently started coming down to us from her quarantine safety room, but she still refuses their company and especially eating in the same room. She insists on eating behind a closed door in her quarantine room.
I would really love to see them snuggling, playing, and eating together someday.
Any suggestions?
Thank you!
😻😻😻😻
My 2 male cats are siblings, and one day, they just start fighting and wounded each other. It's been almost a year now, and they still don't get along.
My cat won’t stop being aggressive to my new cat it’s been over 3 months
Had one cat and ended up getting a second one I think the same age but the cat we already had (cat 1) hissed at the new cat (cat 2) then cat 2 hissed back and cat 1 stopped and cat 2 kept hissing (over time) we got cat 2 in may and they're still fighting a lot cat 1 normally stays upstairs and half of the conservatary and cat 2 stays downstairs (the hall and kitchen being a space they both go through) but cat 2 has started to go up the stairs when we catch her we make sure to just nudge her downstairs but she doesn't give up and ends up going back up later cat 1 has started being scared of cat 2 since cat 2 often leaps at cat 1 and chases cat 1 upstairs cat 1 also has a hiding scale at the top of the stairs under a chair wich cat 2 backs her into a lot (both cats are female and I think they're both around 4 or 5 cat 2 is 5 and cat 1 is probably around 4-6 years idk)
got a kinda older cat, the friendliest cat ever, gets along with dogs (5 little dogs at that) but recently got a baby kitten maybe 3 weeks old and he hisses at her
I'm really, really struggling. Im at the end of my tether. I've even watched this over and over and multiple more. My resident cat is so lovely and has been since we started the 1 room rule. But every time we try (we're at 6 weeks now) the R cat (Mabel) turns almost feral and attacks/swipes at everything in sight. But it doesn't seem like aggression, she seems super scared and I'm contenplating a specialist
My black cat got mad at me for bringing in another cat 🐈⬛
She's jealous when I pick the other one up and have her sent on me.
I try to do a trick where they separated by door and only recognize each other by the gap at the bottom and well… 😾
Oh so we have ten indoor cats. Half are siblings we kept from two different litters and half are rescued ones. They were all lovey until squirrel. The obese long hair cat. He went to the groomer and when he got back home all hell broke loose. Everyone was fighting and going crazy but bit that calmed down over a few weeks. But now dexter my siamese cat always hunts and attacks rita just a plain short hair black cat. He keeps her hiding at all times and a few other of the cats get her too but not like dexter. How would you to about getting them back to the way they were. They used to all sleep in a big ball on the bed. We're so loving and affectionate. But after squirrel went to the groomer it hasn't been the and and poor rita just hides all the time
I just got a new kitten
Please no background music 👎
My 2 cats grew up together. Why are they fighting despite the fact that they eat together, sleep together, play together, etc..
‼️‼️PLEASE HELP‼️‼️
I have two cats my first cat Nami and second cat Bat who I adopted after 3-4 months after Nami. Nami was very playful, and that was the reason we got another cat to company her, but since we got the second cat Nami‘s personality completely shut down and now she hides she doesn’t play, and then I saw her fur shedding when I took her to the doctor, she said the cause is stress. Bat really bullies Nami despite being the younger one. He sits on her bowl and eats his food, if we pet Nami he comes and attacks her. Doc said I might think of rehoming one of them because Nami’s condition looked critical. Please I need HELP! I don’t want to give any of my cats away. I love them both very much and I really need to know how I can solve this. Please help! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😢😢😢
Bro I got my cat like a month ago and I can’t sleep in the morning because all I hear is running around and my cat crying
Small tip to add on about the two room policy. I’ve never thought of it as a “two room” policy but effectively do the same thing, slightly altered, and I think it adds to the advice in the video.
When first introducing the new cat, rather than designate a room for the new cat, opt to keep any resident cat(s) temporarily shut into a room they are comfortable being in (eg living room), let the new cat out, let it explore as much or as little as it wants so it can learn about its surroundings and the resident cats before meeting, and spreads the new cat’s scent for the resident cat(s) to pick up, again ahead of meeting.
The next part I like to do is let the new cat decide for itself where it wants to hide out. Unless you’ve got yourself a flawlessly socialised new kitty, it’s going to be on edge and full of doubt, so it will almost definitely want to refuge somewhere, it follows logically that if that place of refuge can be somewhere the new cat chooses for itself, that will avoid unnecessarily making it less trustworthy. Being confined to a room even part time for the first week still limits the cats perceived freedom, especially if kept confined to a single room overnight every night for a week, remember cats are basically nocturnal, they are more adventurous and explorative at night than during the day thanks to their extraordinary night vision. If you want to keep new and resident cats apart overnight until they are acquainted, try closing doors to split the house in half, keeping each cat in either half of the house. This doesn’t restrict exploration as harshly as a single room would, regardless of how little time it’s for.
As a general rule, you should never, EVER shut a door to a room knowing a cat/dog is inside, not for an hour, not for 5 minutes
My cats are brothers and have known each other for years, but I recently started letting one cat outside after resisting for several months. He was taken out on a leash supervised at first but after being outside he never gave up on wanting to go back out and would literally meow all day and night to go out.
My other cat is the most peaceful creature and would back down from a fight with a mouse.
To see him bullied by his little brother breaks my heart. It’s so hard for me not to intervene and want to protect him from the hissing and swipes, and I also worry that his feelings are hurt after being rejected by his brother.
Has anyone had this experience and is there anything I can do to help them get a long again like they used to?
My cat hazel was found in a wall at 4 weeks old
HELP!!! Both my og and new kitten are ORANGE CATS AND BOTH ARE AGGRESSIVE TO EACH OTHER I THOUGHT SAME BREED WOULD BE FINE BUT NO!
our cats have been fighting for years. we've tried everything.
it's much easier to not get a second cat in the first place
I love my cat Boo very much and do not want him to feel hurt if I bring a new kitten home.
I dunno are cats as neurotic as people? I don’t want to hurt hid feelings
Boo is part outdoor cat. I’m not sure how that effects the dynamic
I hop my cat not going get fight to get along ❤😊
We have a cat sanctuary with 35’ish. We have a room for a few that are very afraid of everything. The most aggressive one is sent to our one other location. This has worked for years. But we just got a wonderful 2 yr old boy, keeping him in our “domestication room” for a week, then got him neutered. After recovering from surgery, we started introducing him to the rest. He slowly walked the whole five room sanctuary, then stopped to play with a catnip toy. After a few minutes, he attacked a 5 month old kitten that was watching him closely. Not just a swipe, but a full on hair flying rolling fight which lasted maybe two seconds. The kitten got away before I reached them. I immediately tried calming the new cat, then let him alone and he walked 20 foot away and attacked an eight month old kitten in the same way, and that kitten got away within two seconds also. I calmed the new cat and was able to carry him back into the domestication room where he’s been for the last two days, while I try to figure out the best path for this boy. HELP PLEASE
i only have one day tho😅
BRO I have a female cat and i adopted a cat yesterday And if they see eachother they will start to hiss and they wont even get close to eachother
on the 3 rd for me…. I lucked out 😊😊
so i got another cat my old cat is attacking the new one the new one is ok and hiding my cat is biting humans now and is extremely mad and will not share food or take it separately
What I took from this is don't waste your time and just buy a dog
My original cat viciously attacks the new cat and the new cat is tiny compared to the original one. I have to keep them in separate rooms 24/7. I alternate cats from one room to the other so they get equal time hanging out with me. The little one came to me with a horrific skin condition which I'm treating and is slowly healing. She is terrified and clings to me. I need her skin to clear up and for her to gain some weight before I try to have them in the same room together again. I'm going to try pheromones. I've had cats all my life and very accustomed to introducing new cats. This is the first time I've had this serious problem.
I tried it for a month, still doesn't work. they've been fighting all day when i tried to make their new relationship
I used to have two cats but sadly in September we discovered my one cat, Kitty had a tumour so we had to get her put down. Ever since then my other cat, Clover has been very hyper and needy, especially at night. So I plan on getting him a friend! He’s really friendly and has been around other cats ever since we’ve had him so I don’t think he’ll ever hiss or scratch at the new cat, but I really want to make sure they become best buds! Thanks for the video, these tips will be very helpful for when the time comes 😄
I have a maine coon who lived wirh us all her life (8 years) and last year we got a British Shorthair. They still attack eachother, hiss and growl. They only ger near eachother if they both want to sleep with us. Theyve never touched eachother and idk what to do at this point
Hisses and runs
A little over a month ago a new 4-month-old kitten arrived. Now my 10-year-old cat avoids both me and the little one and after trying everything, I don't know what to do anymore. The older cat spends his time in solitude and only comes near to eat. I am desperate💔
I have 2 male cats and I used to hit the resident cat and now the younger cat come home once in 3 days and all beat up
Put them in a room together n they will work it out one way or the other. Like each other or respect each other enough to leave each other the fuck alone lol
I got a new 2 year old female cat and my resident cat is scared shitless. He is so scared that he wants to leave his own house lmao.😅
I have two kittens right now struggling a little bit to like each other. One 3 month old kitten and an 9 week old kitten. Any advice on how to help them get along. We got the other kitten because our 3 month old seemed lonely and always wanted to play.
❤😊
I'm not sure where my situation lies here, I'm currently fostering a ~5 year old calico and I had my 3 year old grey tabby first. I've noticed that my tabby will sneak up on the calico scaring her, are they just testing boundaries or is this something else. They can look at each other with little hissing or fighting but the ambushing keeps happening. Any thoughts? BTW both cats are female. And I crate my tabby when I'm at work.
