Six stones were moved and re-erected, including three large sarsen stones that had fallen over. The stones were put back in place and supported by concrete bases.
Other restoration work
A giant fallen lintel was replaced, and a large hollow at the base of one of the sarsens was filled in. The sarsen bases were set in concrete to prevent future movement.

Cores drilled from stones
To stabilize cracked stones, holes were drilled through them and metal bands were inserted. A cylindrical core was removed from one of the large stones by Robert Phillips, who kept it for decades. He returned the piece in 2018 on the eve of his 90th birthday.
