I don't like it that much it was basically a Hollywood cashgrab in secret because of the 24/7 references
I find it funny how this was biggest film of last year and literally a year later it’s already forgotten by most people outside of Nintendo fans.
I really wanted like this film because I’m a huge Mario fan and some of the little references and Easter eggs were kind of cool but unfortunately that’s not enough to save the film from its shortcomings like the barebones plot and most of the characters not transitioning very well into a visual medium such as film.
Now I can see why a Nintendo fan would praise this film because it does have some cool easter eggs and references to both Mario and Nintendo history which I will admit was pretty cool coming from a Nintendo fan but as someone who studies the movie art form and film history I was able to notice some of the films issues and shortcomings that were to glaring to dismiss in opinion.
I rate this movie 4/10 cause I don’t like peach being a badass in the movie. I liked her better when she was a damsel in distress.
Words cannot describe how phenomenal the Mario Movie is. You could just tell Illumination put their all into making this the best it can be. The music alone REALLY was amazing and nearly brought a tear to my eye hearing all of these classic remixes. And the song Bowser sings at some point was just really funny and charming.
Oh yeah! And I absolutely adored how they incorporated Mario Kart into the movie as well.
Not to mention that I REALLY like the usage of Holding Out for a Hero, Take on Me and Thunderstruck at some point in the movie. All in all, the movie is an amazing love letter to those who have played the Mario games for years.

This movie was awesome and my grandparents loved it too!
Only problems I have are the pacing being too quick, the story being not too interesting (not saying that the story is bad or that the story needs to a masterpiece of storytelling) and Luigi not getting enough screen time.
This was a good movie and THIS is how a video game movie should be handled with care and love!

I do really wish they used more original voice actors- especially from Mario. I wish they would of used Charles martinet, or at least someone with a stronger Italian accent. Didn’t sit right with me for Mario to have such an American accent. I think Jack Black definitely nailed bowser. Just some thoughts
I loved it. Every little reference makes you feel like a little kid. My only complaint is that I want more since there’s so many characters and locations they could go to. Even the new characters fit perfectly in the Mario universe. But I hate that dog, more so than those who won’t shut up about The Thousand Year Door.

when i first saw that there was a movie being made about mario i was hesitant and didnt expect much but damn was i wrong. the movie was incredible and made me so happy. the references were crazy. 100% recommend to watch this

Like the name of the pizza place was Punch-Out and Mario lied besides a poster were his old name 'jump man' was printed on.
