Did you just say Gemma? ❤
I approve.
I tried training my Staffordshire bull terrier with Nate schomer's videos and some things have worked but my puppy is still to hyper to do certain things! I've taught him how to cross the road properly and wait etc but we are still on stage 1 of luring! Struggled to find the right treat to hold the way the trainer does so I've decided to try Beckman's methods also as the dogs he is training in this video have similar shaped face bones so the four finger move may work (hopefully) he's sleeping right now so won't try it just yet lol. I really need to get this puppy calm. Asap! I want to do everything and anything for him but I'm losing the will to live when it comes to training and I really don't want that to happen or for him to sense frustration within myself.
Can this be done on a 7month old puppy to teach her to calm down? I have a beagle and she can’t chill. She follows me everywhere and gets up from a nap when I walk.
Dang. I use this method without knowing as well as with my kids😂 I stare at one of them or the dog and everyone instantly sits down and wait for me to say something or tell them to move again. 😂😂 it’s hilarious but I really be meaning business. I never really have to take it there after they all got popped on the butt with a wooden spoon (dog included). Every time I grab that spoon for whatever reason, all movement seizes instantly. I love it. They’re not scared of me, they just now understand the consequences (aka the spoon to butt) of their actions.
Interesting about using the jawbone area for control. That location works very well for me with my horse when I lead him around the barnyard.
Please respond to this.. how do you deal with a dog that won’t get off the couch until they’re ready. They growl if you try to grab their collar and pull them off. Like it’s there couch and you’re not going to move them
The best. Working on My pit bull pup 8 months now almost. Gets the zoomies and goes nuts and almost hurts me wrapping the leash and my wife. I tell her as soon as he finishes potty grab the collar calmly and walk him in.
Perfect explanation. I worked with 1000 pound horses. Its the same thing. You can move a horse with a look, tone and attitude. You better get it right or you can get hurt. Im training a 6 month old Australian Shepard and using these types of techniques. You are on the money!! Thank you
honestly seems like pretty terrible dog training.
5:13
7:43 That’s so important, because if the dog doesn’t learn to give way to you, then you can trip over them or step on their paw. It’s dangerous for everyone
you explain things really clear and well. Thank you. I have a jack Russel and working on both of us. Thanks
My 5 year old corso has the excitement level of his 6 month old self. He’s always SO EXCITED. He’s 192 pounds now and a bit much. He seems like he can barely even handle his own excitement. I have 2 other Corsos who are calm as cats. Not sure why he is like that…
7:34 just like a horse. make them move their feet, don't let them make u move
I know this is an older video but I love your approach to training. Would this same practice apply to puppies as well? I have a 13 week Cane Corso who gets wild (usually when he needs a nap). When he gets wired he's all over the place, nipping sprinting around normal puppy behavior no doubt. But is it to early to implement the physical side of this? the strong collar grab in particular? I've seen your video when you say puppies need time for their brains to develop so I'm curious if it is wasted effort at this stage of his life. I would love to find an alternative to calm him down that doesn't always revolve around putting him in his crate till he chills or sleeps. Something that I could teach him at an early age. Love your videos keep up the great work.
At the end of the video those two were conspiring to do nefarious things lol…bulldogs lol.
Great video
This video made me not feel so bad. I've been doing some of this but I wasn't sure if it was considered kinda mistreatment. My 5 1/2 month old puppy Diana is wearing her leash in the house so I can grab her easily if needed becausue she is 24/7 crazy. I can tell she's really smart and strong-willed. She was supposed to be chihuahua terrier but I think she's just mainly terrier. I've watched several videos on YouTube and I have been implementing them but it only is working in thr moment. If she's awake it's a continuous training session with her and the moment it ends she's right back to pouncing on and biting me and the cats even though they have gotten her really good several times. I haven't tried the staring her down yet but I definitely will be.
👍 yep
Very good sharing, thank you!
Absolutely love your videos, just found your channel and you’ve taught me so much in such a short time. Thank you for making our lives easier with our best friend. Much love.
Your videos are extremely well shot and practical. The best part is you show real life examples and with actionable steps of dog training! Thanks a million
basically just dont be afraid to push them around and show them you like/dont like something lol
What I got from this video is any dog can be trained as long as you display proper leadership.
It’s like Joel has magic, just his touch on dogs changes them. I try it with my 5 month puppy and it turns into world war 3 😫 I can handle the look, so I’m 1 for 3
excellent – thank you – going to try this now! Very helpful way of explaining – LOVE that you're using your cinderblocks – because they are so unique in their galumphing happy energetic ways, I love mine so! I also have collies and their temperaments are so different. Bullie breeds are something to get used to, now!
Amazing video mate and it works thank you ❤
