During this exceptional cold winter our cat prefers to cuddle with us than zoom around the house during the wee hours of the night. And thank you for mentioning the reason why cat may zoom around may be because of a health condition.
If it’s bad, I kick them out of my bedroom and shut the door. Mostly though they restrain themselves until it’s time for me to get up anyway. I think it’s because they want breakfast. If the weather is nice I’ll not only kick them out, but also open some windows in the house. Open windows are cat-magnets. They will abandon their antics to sit in an open window.

I never minded Hobbes running around like a maniac when he was younger, except the Saturday afternoon we were napping together. At the time, he was around 19 lbs (Maine Coon/American Shorthair mix). Took off like he had aspirations of being an F-14, digging his claws into me for traction. Woke me up in a hurry.
He got nothing but Top Gun quotes from me for three weeks.
She likes to do that when it's my bed time. So we play "chase" for a good ten minutes. Play is over when she decides to lay down, enticing me to pet her. Then we both settle down for a good night's sleep. 🙂
My cat is twelve years old and zoomies don't happen A lot
Mine is fine at night, but the FIRST thing in the morning after I'm out of bed and have fed her, it's time for a play session, which in my stupor is just fine with me!

Ziva even when she was a kitten never really had the late night zoomies because when I go to bed she's usually not to far behind wanting under the covers and when she does get them it's usually while I'm still awake and not ready for bed
My cat gets the zoomies @ 3 or 4 am & I have to get up wake up & play with him I will chase him & play with him with his cat wand & when he is done we go back to sleep. Lol My tom cat is very demanding when he wants attention or food. Lol
My cat Shadow get the zoomies but only when a storm is approaching! The rest not so much!
I may be weird but if i hear my orange girl at 3-4 am having a zoomie attack. She ALWAYS announces the zoomie with miaowing- it always makes me smile as she is nearly 16 – i think its cute she still has energy 🙂

If my senior has the zoomies at night I don't notice them. He definitely gets them sometimes after his big business.
My cats go to sleep with me every night and one is 2 months the other 3 years.sometimes they go nuts at night but 99% of the time they sleep with me.and they have access to the whole house.99% of the time I'll even wake up with both on or cuddled with me.and I will say they put up with my flip flopping a lot cuz regardless how many times I move which makes them move they are always next to me.i absolutely love my fur babies
My cats like to sleep all day and "pawty" all night! I love that my cats have the zoomies in the middle of the night! I always make sure they have plenty of jingle balls and ping pong balls out at night. I sleep right through it! 😅😴

I dont wish to contain or restrain the zoomies. When they happen and I wake up in the middle of the night it makes me happy and since it doesnt last long no worries. Same as when its during the day and im here its always hilarious. When I get scratched and blood is drawn I still laugh, in a bit of pain, because the zoomies dont last long. The laughter is more powerful than the pain and its well worth the pain
