Richard – re the spike in the ‘70’s data, starting as early as 1968, have you considered the role of sci/fi movies and tv shows, like the 1968 “2001 A Space Odyssey” along wifh 1977 Close Encounters of the Third Kind, 1977 Star Wars etc. as promoting public attention and behavior around the topic (as opposed to public awareness leading to more movies etc.)
