Having never played this sort of game before, I watched a lot of reviews online which strongly got me thinking a lot about getting it, and I had a exciting feeling I would like this game. This review however was the one that sold it to me, and 80 hours in I've come back to this review, to tell you I feel exactly the same way you did about it.
I realise it's 5 months old now but Ive played it on the PS5, and the patches must have worked their magic, because I haven't one single issue not even on Act 3. Absolutely stunning game, I'll admit I've watched some help online to get used to combat because there were things I just didn't use or understand. Now thought it's like poetry, I love Baldurs Gate.

Compare this game to your average annual call of duty game, they keep copy and pasting the same shit into the next game and don't give a fuck about improvements, Baldurs Gate 3 is a perfect example of a hard working studio that cares about every aspect of detail and player interaction. Hopefully this will give some of you eyebrows down thinking players that spam an R2 trigger more than you finger your gf or wife some knowledge on where to better invest your money.

This game is a direct attack at the gaming industry because it proves you can make a successful game with care rather than the rinse wash repeat and shove it down your throats. The last thing these other game devs want to do is make a game with effort and they hate that a gaming studio like Larian is trying to change the norm.

I'm going to have to disagree. My personal experience on ps5 once I hit act 3 it slows to a crawl and the game becomes practically unplayable. When I attempt to explore the city the game just lags out and my party stays in place. The environment doesn't move and I don't know what to do. I have tried adjusting the frame rate, restarting the system and pretty much every troubleshooting technique I could find on YouTube. If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it

my first crpg and first turn based, have no clue how to play d&g (but love 3rd person single player stuff with RPG elements like Mass Effect and Elden Ring ). Already at 11 hours in, playing two days on ps5 from usual 3rd person perspective. Love everything about the experience. I was afraid that it's going to be hard or boring to navigate in turn based style, but It's kinda easy to understand how it works and i really started to dig the turn based combat – it's super fun, strategic and engaging, never boring, it's super cool to try different aprouches to the encounter (i think those who love commandos, desperados games – will love this combat)
Now i understand all the hype. This game is really a masterpiece.

It’s a good game, but it’s a buggy nightmare on PS5… let’s not let this hype for the content of the game overshadow the fact that Larian needs to fix a lot of shit. It crashes, menus are clunky, freezes and frame drops are abundant. It’s a fine game, but it has serious issues that need to be ironed out. I hope they fix it all. It’s a wonderful game otherwise.

Damn, BG3 flopped on PS5 as far as sales goes. It seems that once it was announced that BG3 would be available on XBox this year, so it was no longer a PS5 console exclusive for 2023, PS5 fanboys lost interest in it, so didn't buy it.
After act 1 the game runs like crap. By far the worst performance ive experienced on ps5 so far. Larian needs to fix this game asap. Split screen is completely broken

Its a great game but not perfect…. Larian Studios are obsessed with putting loads of archers and mages in almost EVERY encounter. Most fights include 6 archers and 2 mages with even the archers normally having spells and area effect bombs/vials on top. The enemy composition is poor for most of the game…where are the hoarde encounters with hundreds of lesser foes pouring in to overwealm you?? Its just more elite archers & mages over & over with the occasional big monster fight. 😢

I have to tell you, I've been playing for a week straight on PS5 and I'm having the time of my life in gaming. It's set up tremendously well. Only gripe is the likelihood to occasionally hit the triangle button and inadvertently end your turn. Other than that it's a joy to play. 7 days so far and never a dull moment.
They turn it into a third based turd game… Never been so disappointed In a video game and all of my life.
