The pre-order period for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is now over, but the good news is that you can still get the pre-order perk if you decided to buy one just now – the flagship trio still comes with a free storage upgrade.
Check out our Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra review for our thoughts on Samsung’s latest rigid flagship. It’s the priciest of the bunch, but it’s also the only one with dual telephoto cameras (including a 50MP 5x periscope), a display with anti-reflective Gorilla Armor 2 and S Pen support (even if air gestures are no longer available).
The Samsung Galaxy S25+ matches it with a 12/512GB configuration and a QHD+ display – though this one only gets Victus 2 glass. We have a unit in for review, so stay tuned for a detailed report.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 finally got upgraded to 12GB of RAM – the S24 was the last Samsung flagship to come with only 8GB of RAM. Unfortunately, Samsung didn’t bump up the base storage, so 128GB is still base. That makes the free storage upgrade even more valuable – you can live with 256GB, but 128GB is pretty tight.
If the S25 series feels boring, you can switch to a foldable phone – the Galaxy Z Flip6 matches the vanilla S25 at €900 for a 12/256GB phone. Except this one has a flip form factor with a large cover display, which can change the way you use your phone.
Or you can get the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra for €100 less – this one even comes with 512GB storage. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 of the Z Flip6 and especially the 8s Gen 3 of the Razr are no match for the new Elite chip in terms of performance, which is something to keep in mind. The Moto has a 50MP 47mm telephoto camera instead of an ultra wide, which is a bit unusual but not necessarily a bad thing.
The Motorola Edge 50 Neo is bigger than the S25 – 154.1 x 71.2 x 8.1mm and 171g vs. 146.9 x 70.5 x 7.2mm and 162g. However, you get a slightly larger 6.4” display, an LTPO panel with 10-bit colors (the Galaxy has an 8-bit display) and a higher pixel density. The 4,310mAh battery is slightly larger too and with much faster 68W wired charging plus 15W wireless (vs. 4,000mAh, 25W/15W). You even get a 10MP 73mm telephoto to go against the 10MP 67mm of the Galaxy. The phone is rated IP68 too, the same as the Samsung.
Okay, fine, the Dimensity 7300 chipset is two leagues below the Snapdragon 8 Elite. But the Edge 50 Neo costs only one-third of what the Galaxy S25 costs.
