The Drake equation runs through my entire novel Hyperspecies, and how to get past the Great Fermi Filter is what the protagonist asks himself. Volume III is coming out soon. (on amazon)
As a creationist I do not feel that there is life out there in the universe. If there is, then there is little possibility of them being further advanced that we currently are. And if they are it can't be by much. Even if you are an evolutionist, then the whole universe started at the same time under the same conditions so the same rule still applies. Since the human race, as the only race existing on the only planet we can exist on, has failed to go any further than our nearest neighbor, robot craft not withstanding. Then the chance that another species would do any better is not very favorable. If we get out there we may encounter them. If not we still have a ways to go to be at a level where they would reach us first. That is if we exist that long in the first place, and I have my doubts about that.
I just know if beings can teleport or have tech for dimensional travel, they would be here for peace more than likely, they would be billions of years older than us so I think they would be benevolent v. A species that has travelled across the cosmos to get here, they are here for a reason and not a good one. That’s why people see UFOs here but they don’t want to interact with us because we are basic and primal and young still.
Need to stop placating the alien hunters. The fact that we can't go faster than the speed of light, pretty seals the fact that we haven't been visited and will not be visited by any extra-terrestrial species.
Well Explained!
This isn't a video WITH Neil deGrasse Tyson. Simply including his recorded words does not equate to his direct presence.
1 Corinthians 3:19
Why do we think visitors to earth would want to communicate with mankind, a primitive waring species like us when there are so many intelligent peaceful species on earth to contact.
All humans are aliens . Mystery .
This clown does not even know what is the difference between man and a woman. Why is he or it allowed to talk about science.
Life -> Intelligent Life -> Technologically Advanced Life. Rare but surely exists since the Universe doesn't produce just one singular instance of anything. Therefore they exist, they know we are here, and they don't come and help us and alleviate our pain. So we can conclude that THEY ARE CRUEL (but that doesn't make sense why would they be cruel?). The only way out of that conclusion is that there hasn't been enough time 15B since Big Bang, 5B since Earth.
The question shouldn't be why haven't we found aliens but why haven't THEY found us? Doesn't make sense. THEY should be advanced enough to have achieved communication between civilizations.
So the only answer is there hasn't been enough TIME. Give it another BILLION YEARS then we'll have a Star Trek-like UNIVERSE. The Universe takes BILLIONS of years to cool and form planets and then BILLIONS of years to evolve life. TIME IS THE ONLY ANSWER THAT MAKES SENSE.
Homo homo sapiens evolved on Africa and it took TIME for a band of our forebearers to leave Africa, spread across the Earth, and now we have nearly 10 BILLION homo homo sapiens and we can communicate with everyone across the globe.
So likewise give it TIME and the Universe will be teaming with advanced technological civilizations, robots, AI all communicating with each other and transforming the COSMOS.
IT IS INEVITABLE.
I'm glad I finally solved the Fermi Paradox for everyone. YOU'RE WELCOME!
It's kind of odd that there's no other advanced technological civilization that got a BILLION year jump on us but that seems to be the case. We must be one of the first like that first band of homo homo sapiens leaving Africa and finding no other homo homo sapiens in Europe.
Aliens are out there but they're either less advanced than us or not SUPER-SIGNIFICANTLY more advanced than us.
be carefull what you wish for you mite get it they are not not a fun group
A person asking "where are all the aliens?" would be like a goldfish asking "where are all the humans?"
Earth is their vivarium, and humans are being observed.
These scientists have SO MUCH FAITH😂
If the mass of a planet affects how time is perceived by those upon it, then the perspective of time can not be cosmologically equal. Time would be relative only to the perceiver, and it would vary from star system to star system depending on the masses affecting the space-time of that particular star system. If there was a variance in mass upon any given inhabited world, then there would also be a variance in how the time was perceived from that world due to the gravitational mass of that world. wouldn't the heaviest mass in every solar system, in any given galaxy ( that systems sun for instance), affect how time is perceived by the inhabitants of worlds within those solar systems? Could this be an answer to the Fermi, paradox? If time is altered by gravitational mass, then the perception of time is also affected an altered by that gravitational mass. Perhaps the reason we haven't found any interstellar neighbors is because we can not perceive or locate them using our own perception of time?
What has NASA ever shown us in relation to their discovery of space?
I like 'The Baird Stealthy Alien Hypothesis'… which goes like this, basically intelligent life across the universe develops along a similar intelligence and technological tree, which fits everything else we observe whenever we find life forms on the planet we are able to back trace them to earlier most simplistic forms. Same with our solar system. It would appear that more and more evidence that our solar system is not exceptional but fits with the standard for solar systems across the universe. We can too trace this back to a more basic arrangement of elements and gas clouds.
So let's assume all grow the same with intrinsic variance to account for adaptation, etc.
Let's also assume that genius life forms are born, within a species, umongst the stars as they are here on earth, along with the emergence of technological ability.
Ie. A Kaku, Einstein, Hawkins, etc.
Now let's assume these geniuses come to the same conclusion that many of our great minds have reached, that it would be wise to hide from alien species as we would not know whether they are benevolent or malevolent and should we be decected we would be at risk of great harm, thus they decide to hide as we soon may find it practical.
This would explain why we find nothing.
As we too may, in the very short future, decide to hide our detectable giveaway traces and emissions.
And should we hide ourselves completely within the next 100 years, there would only be a roughly 200 year window to find us or any sufficiently advanced alien civilization, which due to the vastness of space and time makes even high alien lifeform densities almost impossible to detect as they must be in range of our detectors with, lets say, their radio emissions time to reach earth's detection technology, overlapping our current -100 years of detection capability.
Maybe "aliens" are just us from the future and if they do come to visit us they figured out how to go back in time. It would make sense for our eyes to grow and to lose all hair and our brains and hands grow bigger, especially if we leave this planet.
Intelligent life. …unknown. what species poisons it own earth, water, and air ???
What bothers me is human ego and people not wanting to change what they have and kill anything newly discovered (aliens)as a form of vigilante
Maybe they are coming, maybe mortality only applies to human, immortal aliens wouldn't mind to drift through spacetime at slow pace. Or, maybe they're too fast, they got stuck and frozen in "time", they got here in seconds but millions years have passed on earth. Or maybe the whole world is just a dreamworld.
Blessed Amen
Where are the aliens?
To understand the progression of intelligent life, we must use Earth as our model, as it is the only example we have. Why do people explore and seek new lands to colonize? Let’s examine the causes that have existed over the last 6000 years of human history but may not exist in the future as we continue to progress:
Religious or ethnic persecution
Rapidly expanding population
Lack of resources
Exploration of minerals and energy
Danger to the planet, such as cosmic catastrophes or asteroid collisions
The planet’s star going supernova or severe climate change
Now, let’s consider our current situation: If we set aside any cosmic catastrophe the common reasons for leaving the world will no longer be necessary especially as such an exploration or adventure will not be advantageous for most of the world population. Even if the speed of light limit can be broken transporting huge number of people to other planets across the galaxy may not be possible.
Declining populations in advanced Western countries may lead to similar trends in developing countries. Many women are choosing not to have children. Advanced civilization may produce replacement individuals by growing babies in incubators, who are then raised by AI robots.
Religious and ethnic tensions should eventually disappear with better education and improving economic conditions.
AI and robotics, if used properly, could help make the world a better place.
Advances in nuclear energy might enable the creation of various minerals.
Endless energy can be harnessed from solar, geothermal, nuclear, and fusion technologies, including untapped thorium reactors.
Any advanced civilization should have overcome the problems of climate change, disease, and aging.
To satisfy our curiosity about life elsewhere in the universe, the best approach is to deploy an array of powerful telescopes in orbit around Earth.
My conclusion is that the aliens exist but are simply not here as they have better things to do on their home planet which they have no reason to leave on a one-way trip to another world. They can happily watch us kill each other through their powerful moon-sized telescopes.
I think considering it this way is also leaving the possibility open that if life is a 1in 10,000 Billion-Trillian years anomaly and not a consistent action in our universe as well as considering if there is infinite space and infinite possible galaxies then there is also infinite planets of life and thus infinite intelligent life forms with the infinite possibility of them having the technology and desire to approach us then with both these theories- statistically intelligent life anywhere else is wholey impossible …
My question is, why would a superior civilization bother visiting this primitive blue speck?
Maybe God didn't make any, hmmm!
Maybe they are lots of aliens, maybe they are visiting us right now. We just don't recognize them because they are not anything like us. We keep looking for life that is like ours. I would think if and when we ever find life, it won't be anything like life on earth.
Aliens are shapeshifters and you wouldn't even know them even if they're standing next to you.
They're hiding in plain sight as usual.
We may make first contact when we drill a hole through the ice on the planet Pluto to reach its subsurface sea. Wonder what sort of life could evolve there?
I sent this to SETI:
I realize that folks in the science community don't like suggestions but I feel like this one is super pertinent to SETI's plight. So please hear me out, it's short.
Sure communication through space is seemingly unobstructed when you think about objects near/within our solar system, but I'd argue the effects from orbiting bodies, scintillation, and the inverse square law will not allow signal acquisition from entities light years away. And thus Fermi's Paradox is flawed because it assumes specifically the acquisition of signals from distant orbiting bodies. Any where past light days, the signal is spread out through the cosmos instead of being tightly packed which all but ensures the data can never be decompiled/processed.
At first I thought the issue for the broadcasting entity could be remedied by utilizing a spacecraft and performing a Homan transfer to align your velocity vector with the target planet. But I fear that alone won't be enough to mitigate the sun's gravitational effects (on the signal), even with the Delta-V.
Instead I suggest that if you want to transmit a signal to a solar system light years away you need to have the spacecraft Homan transfer to the velocity vector of our sun targeted on a system in that direction. Then radiate our loudest/powerful signal. In addition I believe scintillation effects are too compounded if the transmitting entity is targeting a solar system that is edge on to us. So I believe you must target solar systems that are aligned with our celestial plane. Further, I believe that if you want to listen, you'd point your antennas to star systems in the neg in-track of the sun. And once again those systems should be aligned with our orbital plane.
Talking to Voyager is not easy and that signal and our ground systems that acquire it are dealing with very low signal strengths and super high signal to noise ratios. And that's just 5 ish hours of light speed away. Instead of asking why isn't anyone broadcasting, we should ask why can't we hear them? I think this is why.
I believe I've laid out a good angle for a revitalized concept of operations for you all. I hope you all pass this along to the proper folks. I believe it's imperative. Ty ty for all y'all's hard work! The work you all do is extremely important to humanity.
I dont know if they are out there. Neil seems to think, that they are not.
As science goes, we as a species have found more life on our own planet, than people just 100-200 years ago couldnt find.
I dont know. But I just think, we cant be the only ones. Its just doenst make sence.
Maybe Terrance Howard was right! Maybe the Universe is only starting to "People" right now (relatively speaking)
Maybe God is an advanced alien who doubled the size of our brain 200,000 years ago with genetic engineering in order for us to be the stewards for life on earth.
There's no answer the simple fact is that every living species on this planet is alive because of it's ability to adapt to nature's evolution, there are probably millions of life forms on other planets that survive where we couldn't because they have adapted to that planets eco system etc hence why they can't come here and we can't go there end of story
He hit it right on the head when he said intelligence is what you need to end a species.
I think that’s true. When a species develops intelligence it is a built in evolutionary limitation and the species destroys itself.
No interstellar travel, no United federation of planets. With intelligence comes hate, greed, envy, money, war, murder, etc. and there’s the answer to the Fermi paradox. Where are they? Where’s all the other intelligent species in the universe? All dead. All life in the universe is either dumb, or dead. We’re on the way out. Hug your kids.
Who proved that “soup” created life?
Neil, the first words of Genesis , IN THE BEGINNING GOD….. that's all we need to know.
As far as we can see in the observable universe, we see no street lights, so im smart enough to realize we are alone, and nobody can change my way of thinking, unless I see it myself,,, PERIOD
