The first two mafias are thematically is the bread and butter of the series. Mafias 3 didnt do well with the fans is because it drops off so drastically from what it is known for.
Onimusha certainly made me happy, but sadly only 2026.
I'm really happy that the franchises of Turok, Onimusha, and Okami are coming back. Also really looking forward to The Witcher 4.
Comment for Al Gore Rhythm.
Crimson Desert is giving me "looks to good to be true" vibes. There was also the weird situation where it was originally marketed as an mmo then they removed all phrases of it being mmo from their marketing like a year or so ago which seems a bit late to be doing a massive sweeping change like that where you haven't even decided if the game was gonna be a single player or mmo yet. Late big changes like that never bodes well but we'll see.
Thanks
Witcher 4!!!!
Okami 2 was really great.
That Witcher reveal killed all my hype. I love the Witcher, and I like Ciri as a character, just no interest in playing as her. The fact that the whole next trilogy will focus on her really bothers me. Was hoping for a break from all the wrapped up storylines. In my eyes, Ciri's story is done. She's already beaten the biggest bad in the setting, the White Frost.
I'm actually worried about Witcher 4. I don't like what the trailer showed us. But we'll see. Maybe I'll be positively surprised. Solasta 2 seems to be interesting. However, while simultaneously liking it I never finished the first game. And though I never finished (so far) Pathfinder Kingmaker I spent with the game way more time. I guess I lean towards Pathfinder mechanics and waiting more for Dragon's Demand from Ossian.
The Outer Worlds was one of the coolest, soulless games I've played.
I'm definitely super excited for Solasta 2, especially since the lovely Amelia Tyler is voicing the big bad.
SOLASTA 2??! holy moly, I loved solasta 1 so much I've been playing mod campaigns just to mess around more in the world and the mechanics. I am super interested to see where they're going! Agree that smoothing over visuals will be a key thing for that title, though if they have the money smoothing over a few bits in the dialogue system also probably wouldn't go amiss lol.
You enjoyed Mafia 3 which is by far the weakest entry in the franchise, you have to play Mafia Remastered.
Thank you for the recap, great summary of hours of content removing all the unnecessary minutia 😀 Does anyone know: What game is the cinematic at the end, starting at 14:00 – from?
It’s confirmed by cd projekt that Ciri has under the trial of the grasses and is a fully fledged Witcher.
I was curious after the Witcher 3 if they were going to somehow give Ciri a “mother-son” arc since so much of the third game and part of the books emphasize the “Child” of the Elder Blood part. Having themes of natural motherhood would have been cool. Her actually deciding to prolong the bloodline of Lara Dorren would have added some interesting conflict to the character but I guess that if she underwent the Trial of the Grasses that idea is gone. The decision to end her bloodline is equally interesting and maybe more in line with the lore but I guess we’ll see.
You disrespected Okami
Long Dark 2 for me. Can't wait!!!
A heads up for Onimusha 1, the PC port is based on the first release of the game. If you want to try out the hard version, that's exclusive to the Xbox Original. And Okami did have a sequel on the DS called Okamiden.
Turok, Onimusha, Okami, oldheads are eating good
Project Century: Ooooooh I would love a historic Yakuza style game. Everyone hypes up the Yakuza games so much I absolutely believe they are good… But the modern Yakuza setting and aesthetic just doesn't interest me at all. But a historic one (even an alternate history) is really intriguing. I love that look and I'm genuinely interested in diving into that world. Especially if they end up doing something similar to RDR vs GTA. Like, I'm "okay" playing GTA and have played every major GTA since nr 1 back in the day, but when I first booted up RDR2 I thought "This, thisss is where it's at". A more serious tone, a more immersive setting, a different time to dive into. If Yakuza could do something similar then yeah sign me up.
I'm excited for The Outer Worlds 2! I didn't think too highly of the first TOW, because the corporation wars were just too simplistic – they really didn't go to any depth or have much nuance, and consequently the story wasn't much. With the gameplay not being too blistering either, it all felt really underwhelming. BUT there was some good humour in there, Parvati was super cute, the graphics were pretty enough, but most of all I loved the aesthetic design of the world. The retrofuture spacey look was really intriguing, even if it did feel a little like a veneer instead of a deep world.
So it's certainly a sequel I'll be looking out for. If it can put the writing more forward in the design, take time to flesh things out, and not be satisfied with the surface level, I think it might be a really good game.
Definitely picking up Dave the Diver and Witcher 4. Interested in Shadow of the Road and Solasta 2, but more wait and see on those.
Wow, Solasta 2 😃
Super exited for Split Fiction!
Will have to force my wife to pickup the controller again!
I generally agree with most of your takes but you're seriously sleeping on the co-op genre!
It is the best genre in gaming. You can fight me on it.
This is because unlike books or movies which you can experience together but will have an identical experience, gaming allows you to really interact and leave a mark in the story!
It's single player games on steroids!
Ok, enough of a rant for the day.
Please find a good friend to complete it takes two with.
Thanks for the coverage. I loved the Outer Worlds 2 trailer.
I think a some people missed a key point of that flashlight co-op game. they either implied or directly stated that one player has the gun, the other has the flashlight.
AS for ciri, i think the cat eyes was just from the potion, where as the other witchers have them all the time. So the potions she has could be unique to her, to cover some of the things missed with the trials. My biggest concern were where were her powers when fighting the creature? She seemed to use signs instead of her elder blood. i wonder if thats a theme to make the character more vulnerable and playable?
I can't believe it's been a year already. Monster Hunter is right around the corner. It'll be the best co-op experience of the year by far, I hope you check it out as a personal experience with the kid.
I'm just bringing it up to reinforce my comment from last years video. It's still my most anticipated by a long shot and the series is responsible for a lot of fun memories.
I'm one of the few that loved outer worlds 1, the choice based quest hubs and the humour really resonated with me. Looking around in the comments I feel like I'm the only one, but still, really excited for the sequel.
youtube said i was top 3% mort viewers 😎
Can't wait for Outer Worlds 2 & The Witcher 4! I didn't feel like watching all 4hrs of the actual show so this video helped a lot, thank you!
Call me a hater but Borderlands 4 look way more like a cash grab than Elden Ring NightReign…
Witcher 3 was such an amazing book-end to the story of Geralt and Ciri, I was hoping CDPR would let that story end lie. When they announced they were working on a new Witcher game I was honestly hoping for a new set of characters, a different school, perhaps even a different time frame.
Mortym, you forgot to mention the Squid Games game😂. I think the cinematic for Witcher 4 looked great… I finished the game, finished Geralt's story. I believe they've confirmed that she has completed The Trial of the Grasses. I'll probably still be playing Fallout 4 😀
It is also worth mentioning that there was a trailer for new Ninja Gaiden game! Also made by Blasphemous devs! I'm really curious about that, since the devs are from Spain and they are making a game about ninjas. It seems like the pixel art will be on par with Blasphemous' one and the game looks good so far
My most anticipated games are Solasta 2 and Borderlands 4- yeah yeah yeah, say what you want but BL3 was fun as hell. Sometimes what you need at the end of a day is just a stupid fun shooter.
Also a new project from the creator of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus
Brilliant round up, thank you
Why am I not seeing anything for Project: Robot anywhere? New game from the Shadow of the Colossus creator. That’s huge!
And no announcement for Bloodlines 2 😞
Very surprised with Solasta 2. I don't expect much more than a better graphic. Still, I WILL play it
Samurai CRPG… Wishlisted within seconds of hearing those words.
