How to Help Your Scared Cat!

What about people mine flee except I don't want them to get used to strangers outside for which they go out 4 hours a day

would this work with a vacuum cleaner noise? My cat Jasper runs away and hides when I run the canister vacuum.

I bought a squeaky mouse toy for my recently adopted cat, he ran off.

So I'm having an issue where I can't tell if my cat is scared or just extremely exited cause the body language says they are scared but they still wanna play and just run around if they are scared idk what they are scared of cause I think it's me but 5 min later they come to lay in my room or in my lap any tips?

My cat is deathly afraid of my six little barking dogs and they bark they did attack a cat inside one time and kill it but she’s definitely afraid she sprayed all her life all over my house and walls. He’s ruined the baseboards and the walls and I don’t know what to do anymore. I can’t get rid of either one but I’m gonna be moving and I thinking of maybe putting her to sleep. I don’t know what to do. Shelter won’t take her. I don’t know what to do. Does anybody have any suggestions? I mean the walls are ruined in the baseboards in his home but she’s 1314 years old. I have all these little dogs I can’t get rid of them they’re excessive barkers and it just scares the living night out of her. Please help.

Thank you so much for these tips! My cat Cosmo is the definition of a scaredy cat. She stays in the basement pretty much all day, and my brother can’t even approach her without her running away. I have to feed her in a completely quiet area or she won’t eat. I’ll try the desensitization and hopefully I’ll see her more.

On the topic of caving/cocooning: I have an incredibly jumpy scared cat that is terrified of new faces and new hands and new placess. Recently, I had to move back to my parents' and so now cat is half caving/half cocooning in the lowest level of my closet (I can easily get her out, but I cannot change the place. I keep it for now, because it's a lot more favorable to her trying to crawl under my bed (the bed in question has like 10cm between ground and the bottom (upholstered bed) and I fear it squeezes her badly) in the middle of the night).
Right now she's camping in my room (fairly spacious), and during the night she's insanely curious about getting out of the room (I take her with me when I go to the toilet or to the kitchen to grab a midnight snack, but I fear that she will yank herself under the couch or yeet herself off the stairs so I am quite tense), but during the day I can rarely lure her out of the closet (usually with petting, she's not very hungry for treats unfortunately), and whenever a strange sound happens or someone opens the door she darts to the closet (she has a good view on the entire room from it though).
From a different video I had the idea of having a peeking platform next to the door, but the issue for me right now is she's not even comfortable enough to CLIMB during the day on her cat tree (back where I lived she lived on that thing). It's been a month by now, and I think she is slowly getting more comfortable (even got her to play during the day), but is there a way to speed this up? I imagine letting her meet my parents is one way but how do I do it so she's less stressed out? Again, we're camping in my room and I can't exactly expect of my parents to hang around in here for an hour or two a day so she gets used to them 🙁

I have a concern question. My cat that i found her on the streets like 2 and a half years ago , she is quite scared. I manage with my love to bring her around. But one day i had the stupid idea to take her out on the leash just behind our building. She manage to get off of the leash so i try to hold her not to escape and get lost. Another stupid ideea because as i was holding her she bite me to bleeding and after i manage to put her inside , in the house she littery attack me and she was making funny noise. I had to closed her in her bedroom was very difficult because she was running to attack me . I really got scared even to go to the bathroom .When i let her out after a day and a half i thought she start to come around but after a week she attack me again. That moment i lost it i took the broom and i say get out of my house i cant leave on fear , i was scared and angry , she was too . I push her with the broom out of the door , on the hall way , we leave in an apartment and she was there on the stairs until someone open the front door and she run. She was around the building all the time for 2 days and 2 nights , because i saw her under a car behind our parking. I open the door and ask her to come home , i told her i am so sorry to do that to her. She is so dirty as she slept under cars. She came in but she sleep in our neighbors balcony ,is like 3 days now , she dont come to eat as usual and she dont feel comfortable to be in the house . I need advise what to do . I love to get back to our rutine

I know I’m a bit late to this video but hope I could get some pointers.
I have small kids. 6,2,and 8 months (2 teens as well but they can control themselves better, they also visit their dad in a different state so are not hear all the time) and we just adopted a 3 month kitty. They didn’t have anything for her back ground. She is calico (not sure which breed). My 6 year old named her Tails.

Well we got her home I set her up in the bathroom with a kitty litter box, water, toys (like stuffed mice with catnip she can play with herself), I got a crate and an old shirt put it over the crate and made her an appropriate hiding place. Took out the shower curtain and added a little bed. I bring food in there to feed her meals (started with treats today) I sit there and let her eat, I talk to her so she can get used to my voice, I also avoid pushing her boundaries and am letting her take the lead, just yesterday (day 3) she started playing with me with the wand (I am trying after she eats everytime) after playing she’ll sniff my hand and put her head in my hand. She’ll let me pet her. This also just started yesterday or today.
My 2 year old comes in and sits next to me or stands behind me she talks and sometimes tells Tails good job and then will clap. The clapping scares Tails. If we stand up it scares her. She let me and my 6 year old and 2 year old play with her with the wand and pet her.
I am hoping by hearing my kids run around in the room next door, then being silly and crying (like normal kids do) it’ll desensitize her to them.

I saw a video of a foster kitty mom who had very scared kittens and after they got acclimated and used to her she put them in a crate on a table in the living room (or main room) for 20-30 min a day and then would reach in with her finger and touch them and give them treats. This way she said it helped them get used to the surrounding areas and noises.
When they showed signs of being ready she’d put them on a harness and leash so they can explore and if scared they can’t run and hide.

Is this a good suggestion to do with my kitty Tails? I am trying to get her used to the kids quietly first.

Other than my kids we don’t have any crazy sounds or visuals. I am working on getting catificationed in my home too. We also plan on getting Tails another kitty friend.

I just want to do this right. Have a happy kitty and us be able to enjoy our relationship with her. She is very sweet and I don’t want to traumatize her.

Some cats have super high anxiety…funny 😂.. they soo poor and cute..

I adopted a cat around 5 months ago. He is a very timid cat. He still won’t let me pet him, he does not cuddle. I can only pet him at night when he is in his cat tree and in a sleepy mood. I have tried treats, I play with him, I keep his litter clean, I give him a bit of wet food every other day for him to enjoy a treat meal. But still he won’t let me pick him up or brush him. How do I get him to trust me?

Yep, that's my cat too. I was thinking he had been abused before I adopted him.

My cat gets startled even when I get up or any object that I hold that’s bigger than him.
