I just got my kitty about a week ago. He's still a baby. When i go outside to smoke, it go to the bathroom without him he cries and cries until he sees me.

We live in the country, but there's about 4 strays around, a yucky oppossumm, and a train that runs 2-4 times a day, about 400 feet from us.

I don't know how to respond. I started out with a basically feral kitty that "adopted" me. He would not leave my side! He became the ship i was on, Head Cat. He would juml in the elevators, roam the holds, sometimes coming back greasy 😂! Ride on the dashboard back and forth every weekend. Won't get into how he got the name, but it was "Bird".
My wife.(at the time).was jealous of the bond we had, so she got a barn kitty from a friend, 9 month old. He, somehow took Bird's place on my lap, if you know what i mean,. Bird wouldn't have a thing to do with me for 18 momths 😢
He lived for 4 years or so past that.
Then my wife brought in 2 more, a mother, and daughter pair, about 8 years old, mother was only 9 months oler than daughter, feral cat origin.
The daughter (Cheyenne, aka Shy) would do this strange behavior to me. Long short story, was she was treeing squirrels for me and trying to let me know! She picked up I didn't like squirrels raping my apple & pear trees!
Wife.& I split up. She took Mama kitty and Shy, I took Pepe. I moved cross country, Pepe ran out on the middle of the night, crossing through Wyoming, scared the shit outta me! I had a smoke,
whistled for him, and he came out of the brush and we finished the trip. He was my bud his whole life.
(ex).Wife moved to where I'm am. When Pepe died (in my arms),.Mamma kitty took my lap,.she passed at 19 years. Then Shy took her place on my lap.
Shy is over 20 (I'd have to check the papers). She is deaf as she could be. In the last 2 weeks though, she has been on my lap,.we are both going to sleep, and she has just jumped up and bit the shit outta my arm! Let us say I let her know it upset me! She knows, been sucking up to me all day! Tonight I let her know it's ok. She was setting on my lap, purring, until she got bored and went back to bed 😊!
Love that girl! Gonna miss her when she goes! 😢
Side note: ex wife still doesn't have a kitty, don't think shes a cat person. 😢😢

It took me a min to figure out what my son's cat was meowing at me about…when going to the door. He wanted out but it was too hot outside (this past summer) and he wanted right back in. He stood there at the door, meowing at me.

Sorry to hear of your loss! Iam well aware as I have more than a few it's never easy! It would be nice to have them as a life long companion. If they could only live as long as some parrots. All animal are special the best we can do is to show our love and play and interact with them as best we can. Remember them and hope we can share a special bond .
My boy Nico spends time with me according to my daily activities. I love his interaction. When he sleeps with beside me I notice he goes into rem sleep.He communicates so much thru so many little gesture.

My girl likes to groom me on occasion and yes her tongue feels like sandpaper. Her brother doesn’t to me.
My twos ears are always facing forward.
When my two look at me their pupils look like big saucers. It’s a little unnerving. They stare as if I’m gonna say something profound. And my girl tips her head slightly to the left like a scientist studying something.
Right now my boy is sleeping on my right hip snoring away. His sister is napping on the couch arm on the right.
My two make biscuits all the time. Money is soft and gentle, Manny2 is heavy pawed about it, combo purr and meow and sounds like a loud generator. I don’t know why but it feels comforting when they knead. Mine are declawed but when they did have claws they were gentle in their kneading.
My two head bunt my face. They get a forehead kiss and an I love you too.
My girl is a big head bunter and purr box and she marks me every day. Her brother marks my hand every morning as if to say thank you for giving me breakfast. When Manny2 head bunts he does it hard. And they take lap shifts. My girl during the day her brother in the afternoon and sometimes night. As I write my girl is on a couch arm near me on the right and her brother is curled up on my right hip. If I have a couple sweatshirts on the couch he likes to rest on them.
My two walk around with their tails straight up and my boy will sometimes wave the tip of his. But mostly their tails pint straight up tips included.
My two don’t mind a belly rub. My three previous cats no way. My Manny2 and his sister Money are special.
Dilated pupils can also indicate an imminent kitty attack!!!! 😅
