Today ppl are just laughing at the whole situation, sometimes they get pissed by something they wouldn't be pissed before(like a new movie with female lead, they just assume it will be another feminist shit)
The way all of this is going, we sadly eventually will end up with hate all over again, ppl will start actually behave like rasists, bigots, and all sorts of phobes, just couse they had enough

I honestly dont care too much about physical character design. Their design is not going to make the gameplay or story any better. There are thousands upon thousands of games where we dont even play human characters, and yet those games are still beloved by many. So why the fuck are people bitching about a character that didnt even say five sentences?
The problem started when people wanted to portray the "regular dude". The regular dude who just happens to find himself in the position to save the world or the princess and so on. People got tired of the "hero". The one. They wanted to see themselves in the the role of adventurer or fighter.
The problem started when people couldn't decide what regular meant. What was regular for one might not be for another. Then when the, I dare say, the "marginalized" people wanted "representation" it was SOLELY for the representation and not anything that had to do with the game.

I think one of the strangest things i read was people wanting the character to superficially be what they are in order to "related/connect" with a character. I think this is honestly the problem, they dont care about what the character went through or how the character is, what matters first to them is to represent on the surface. Be black, be gay, be a woman, be trans. If they dont have that, they wont care if the character , in whatever fictional world they are in, is going through any hardship or are weird or quirky, they wont care, they wont relate. Its all about that superficial thing and their sexual orientation. And yet we are the bad ones for "objectifying" good looking female characters.
A great example of people not caring about diversity as long as the game is good was the original gears trilogy. We had characters of every color and shape of humanity, and no one cared because the characters were good.
How do you even do this?
