Wiping a game from existence to a point where it's removed from players' digital libraries or physical copies are disabled without refund opportunities is as good as being broken into and having that game and product stolen. Companies should have to face repurcussions for this kind of disregard for paying customers.

If on steam your only getting a license for a game then why are they still charging full price for the game it should by law the price should Either be lowered or have a way to actually own the game.
does anyone know if there is any hope that i will ever be able to purchase this game again with modder doing the revival project. i had it on my xbox in disc form but have switched to pc now and dont own it, wondering if it will be able to be purchased once the revival is out
So if they told you that it was only a license would you of not bought it? That's where this gets silly. I know r6 could be shut down but I'm happy to purchase a licence to experience it.
They did something similar wit Avatar when you don’t buy the digital download part 1 you can’t play the game anymore, speaking of corruption and theft
Ubisoft is so lucky we not owning their games, they must celebrate everyday now not owning our money neither
Lol, gamers get a bit wackier every year, like duh, an online only gamee is eventually going to go offline 🤣
If the stopkillinggames movement gets enough traction we’ll see infinity blade return to IOS.
The only time it not is in case like black myth wukong were 100% of the game is on the cd
I don't now y this has to be a video it's common info that digital and physical copy of game not owned there just license
Get comfortable not owning games.
Imagine the court made them refund every single person who bought the game and dlc and microtransactions. That is the only way to send a message to companies that they cannot do this stuff.
9:14 – I got games like GTA IV (complete edition) and Mirror's Edge on discs, but because the way they needed to be activated or unlocked, which was through Rockstar and EA servers, I couldn't do that anymore since those went down. Even with their sort of "extended support" services, where you could still download a program to input a key to then get a code to activate it offline (or something like that), it couldn't be done anymore. – So what I had to do was activate digital copies of the games through their current generation of launchers, turning them into digital products after all. Though, at least there was that option, which was probably by intention (that they still accepted very old keys that came with discs), but it wasn't clear from anything and I simply had to come up with the idea myself to try that and figure it was possible. – And sure, I suppose that these physical copies and their DRM could be cracked, but I'd rather not mess with that unless it's on some reputable website or something. I suppose you need to patch it for mods anyway, at least GTA 4, but still, I should be able to activate it officially and more easily.
So physical copies are quite BS as well. I just don't care. I like how GOG does it, which is something Valve/Steam should move towards as well. And it doesn't have to be for EVERYTHING if that's not possible, but for those games or studios/publishers that agree, they could make them downloadable games by option and they could get that property assigned to them on the platform. – Of course that would result in a LOT of whining from gamers, going all "If it doesn't get the downloadable files (or whatever it would be called), I'm not buying.", as people would just become petty and insist it for every single title. And yea, I get that, but it would be better to have partial support for it than nothing. – Let's not pretend that EVERY GAME will come to GOG, as they only have a fraction of what's on Steam. It's basically the same situation, but it could be improved by Steam allowing for the same for at least as many titles, and probably surpassing that because of the fact that there are more titles on there and also more developers/publishers would probably allow for it.
4:44 – Here's the thing: It's not "YOUR library". Just like people say "THEIR account" on some platform like YouTube, Instagram or whatever, it's really NOT their real-estate, as it's a virtual space that was borrowed from a server that the respective company owns. You never purchased that, you never purchased a place for a library on a company's servers either, you simply paid for licenses to access the files via download to install and play them indefinitely. – I just disagree with all the surprised and upset responses to this, because a large part of the problem is people THINKING they "own" stuff when that was NEVER the case. People feel so entitled to everything, even though they're not and they're wrong. – Yea, I'm not on the side of corporations, but I'm also not that upset or butthurt. – I think also a lot of people are either just kids/teens or uneducated and think like kids, even those who are in their twenties or thirties or beyond. – I mean, this whole cynical attitude of "they wanna make it so we don't own anything", even though it shouldn't be news and you should've known this for like 10-15 years already. – It's your own ignorance that bites you in the ass.
0:22 – That word, "forever", really implies that people think they will live forever these days. – I don't understand why people care so much about their possessions, as they will be discarded and thrown out eventually anyway. They will probably not be used within their own lifetime, if they're still good since physical media has a shelf-life as well. – Life will be over long before your licenses expire as well. – Gamers and nerds really sit there thinking of this romanticized scenario of "When I'm older, I want to be able to play all my games.". – Reality is, you're not gonna care or actually play those games, as it's just about the memories and feelings you had. And if anything, the games you MIGHT still play will definitely be obtainable in one way or another, because they won't be obscure enough to disappear. – Yaya, "it's about the principle", sure, I don't disagree. But stop acting like you'll care in another 10-20 years, also like you know where you will be in life IF you will even BE alive. – Oh, and don't get me started on the "But I want to be able to hand them down to my children.". – First, do you have children?… Second, they will most likely not care like you do. – Just stop with the ignorance!
selling a license to own also needs to be binned, i'd rather buy a product without updates than one that could be taken down. back to cd's!!!
I remember when this happened with dark spore. I only played it single player but when the server closed, I lost the ability to even start the game.
Should Blizzard get sued for making Overwatch 1 unplayable?
Makes me glad that the Fallout London mod for Fallout 4 is exclusive to GOG. I paid hard cash for it and I’m keeping it forever.
This doesn't just just relate to online games but game with offline games that cannot be because the companies have disabled the DRM servers so the the game can't verify to install or access
I hope we win this in court.
They should include breaking the pc port of Blazing Angels. They broke it and never patched it again
