Mario did originally had a Brooklyn accent for those that didn't know. The creator of Mario said that Mario bros canonically raised in a City like new York, I believe Shigeru Miyamoto (Mario creator) made the whole New York origin for the bros for the old SMB underground game where you have to kill the koopas and the crabs and "Mario is missing", so the first Mario cartoons made them from New York with an American Italian accent thus showing Nintendo is clearly going for this with Chris Patt's voice, you can slightly hear the Brooklyn accent on the last line of Mario in the trailer, there's still more trailers to come, it will be fine. You can see Mario didn't know where he was, it was the first time in the mushroom kingdom. They're probably going to make Mario from New Donk City or a guy from Italy who grew up in new Donk City
