What to do when the resident cat is not interested in site swapping. He went in to kitten's room once and browsed everything but not doing it again. He goes on hiding every-time the are meeting for a minute. Also keeping a kitten in a room is getting hard now that he has seen the house.
My cat only gets along with dogs
My girl is almost 11 years old, with us for 9 years, she came as a Stray from a rescue that catches, spayed, cut the tip of ears and released the cats in neighborhoods. It took a longtime for her to come inside the house, she is very territorial, but goes out as well. Almost 5 months ago a Cat showed up here, he was young and I noticed he was not so well, we tried to bring inside, but he didn't want to stay, so we were feeding him outside for almost two months, one day he didn't come back and a day later I found him inside the garage wounded, my Son and I took him to an Emergency Vet and he was attacked either by Coyotes or another Cat, he had Sepsis and we had to euthanized the poor baby! A few months later a kitten showed up, and I took he in, he is so sweet, but my Cat doesn't accept him at all, it has been one month now, I work from home, my Son and I try to give him attention, to play with him, but now my older cat has been more inside the room with me, it is also cold now, but she is not happy with the little one! I hope they can get along in time, but I don't want my Cat to get sick because she is hiding more and not using her litter as much. Any good advice? Thank you!
I got an extrovert cat from my friend 3 month ago. A month later my cousin give me her introvert cat. At first everything is fine, the extrovert cat only following around the other 1. A week later I need to left them under my maid care because i need to go out of town for a week. After coming home there seemed no problem at all until the extrovert cat suddenly pounce the introvert 1. It's been a month she keep try hunting the introvert but she only do it when the introvert cat move or away from me. What should I do?
Need help if anyone would.
I’ve got these two cats that aren’t getting along anymore.
We theorize that ever since we took one to the vet, the other cat has targeted her for that reason.
The other cat kind of just hunts her out and we don’t know why and it’s been 3 months since. He always fights her or tries to. For whatever reason, trying to play or something, he just harasses her
He’s not angry as he doesn’t growl either.
She’s so afraid of the other cat that she hides either in my room or in some cabinets. If she’s out in the open, and hears his collar, she runs to hide somewhere even if the other cat is far away and out of sight.
They got along before and now they don’t. It’s upsetting to hear the harmless cat get into a fight.
We’ve been trying a few tricks but so far the other cat, the aggressor, keeps looking around for her.
I used to think he would harass her because she would hiss at him for being close (why wouldn’t she, she keeps getting attacked by him) and he gets offended by that and gets aggressive.
If there’s any tips and tricks I’d very much appreciate it
We have three stray cats living in our home. They were outside for a long time. My wife was always feeding them for a long time outside. They were constantly coming to our door to eat. My wife was telling me that every time they come eat, one or the other would be wounded or limping or bleeding or starving, always something. One day, my wife said there's a Coyote in our yard and he has a cat in his mouth. She asked me to come look so I did. Two different neighbors were each walking their dogs on the sidewalk in front of our house. One neighbor walked his pit bull by first, then the second neighbor walked his great Dane by, and I said to her, looking out our front window, I don't see any Coyote. She said it's lying down next to the bushes 6' ft from the side walk, so that was when I saw it. The Coyote didn't move at all until the dogs went by, then the Coyote got up with the dead cat in his mouth and went in the neighbors' yard three houses down and ate the stomach and took off. Now, all three of the stray cats are living in our home. All three cats hate eachchother. I'm happy the cats are safe, but it's annoying living with cats that want to fight constantly. My wife has had me divid the house up inside with screen doors saying that they have to get used to each other by seeing eachchother. When do you know when it's OK to let them meet with the screen doors open? I love having a cat but now we have three and it's anoying trying to go through the house blocking the cats from fighting. How long does it take until I can let them hang out together??? Let me know?. Thanks.
Currently in the 3rd week of intros. My resident cat is around 1 year and 7months old and my new kitty is 4 months old. Our new kitty is deaf so she doesn’t hear our res cat hissing at her
Do you have any videos for solutions if you have 2 cats that used to get along, and then don't ? Our cats specifically stopped getting along after we moved, and ended up in a smaller house. So obviously less territory created a problem. They were fine for 2 years. The boy cat has a strong hunting instinct, and likes to hunt our smaller girl cat. Now she won't even be in the same room as him.
My cat was attacked by a stray dog we rescued and after coming home she wants to fight every animal in the house idk what to do
Im broken. I can’t stop crying. I found a cat that I want to keep, I love so much but my Bengal is sooo mean. Im so depressed that I can’t keep the new cat. I don’t think my Bengal will ever get used to the new cat. I literally tried everything. My heart hurts
Hi Jackson! I doubt you’ll see this because it’s a little long but I am STRUGGLING with my three cats.
My boyfriend and I got our kitties before we started dating. He has two and I have one.
We started dating a little over 4 years ago and we’ve lived together after year 1.
My cat is 10 and his cats are 12/13 and 4
His two cats get along great because he got the youngest as a kitten. However those two hate my cat. My cat is like my familiar we are one she is my lifeline.
I started watching your videos when we moved in together but nothing was working. I bought two baby gates and stacked them on each other and I have my cat in our bedroom (we have a Jack n Jill bath to the master easy access) and every week we rotate the cats out to get familiar with their smells. We feed them at the same time in front of the gate, we have the feliway plug ins, thunder shirts, claw caps, everything but we’ve been living like this for three years.
When we don’t hear any growling during a couple dinners we think it’s okay to have a face to face meeting, wrong. His two cats charge at my cat and the youngest always tries to go for my cats ears.
The behavior was so bad we even went to the vet and she said gabapentin that didn’t work either.
How do we get through this? My cat was found taped inside of a box in a dumpster and she was declawed too so my cat is completely helpless. I just want them all to get along and I don’t want anymore gates. Any advice would be helpful!!
P.S eldest cat that my boyfriend has HATES toys. She will occasionally bat a toy but then walk away. The other two love toys, but when they are all in the same vicinity and see each other the toy does not exist to them only hate.
Really trying to be patient here. We're at 2 months and 1 week with our two new kittens, and our resident 10-year-old cat, who lived with another cat for the first 5 years of her life, is having NONE of it. We have done a VERY slow introduction: kittens in their own home base, cat/kittens eating on either side of the door, site swaps, visual contact through a screen or crate, and lastly supervised short 10-15 minute visits with us attempting to entertain the kittens and ply the resident cat with treats (she won't play in the presence of the kittens). Our resident cat growls and hisses when seeing them from a distance, and swips at the kittens if one of them gets anywhere close. I don't know how much slower we could have taken this. The kittens spend most of their time downstairs, and the resident cat gets upstairs, with daily site swaps and supervised visits, and they're still eating on opposite sides of the doors, with food or treats only given to the resident cat when the kittens are near. We're at our wit's end and don't know what else to try. Please help!
My adult cats are not pouncing on the little one, they're completely ignoring him. He doesn't exist for them. It's sad because he just wants to be friends.
The comments on this video are making me pretty hesitant to get a second cat lol
Does a catio outside cat enclosure help or make it worse bc then a cat that fights attacks the other would not let the other one in it? Would that cause more cat fights or allow more separate and safe spaces?
I just got a new cat today and I’m terrified. My first cat despises him. I had a little of his smell on my hand and she started hissing and growling at me. Send help.
I was over cautious introducing my two cats and the stray who I'd adopted got so stressed that she got a urinary tract infection. I let them sort it out and now they're best of friends.
I don't think this video is helpful at all. Its the same advice Jackson always gives: reintroduce them. Okay…like what a hundred times? You give the same answers for just about every video you make. And read the comments….people say it can take a year. Honestly I don't think Jackson Galaxy is an expert on cat behavior at all.
What if your resident cat won’t eat treat or play in front of your new cat😭😭?
I followed your introduction video and it was fine until it got to feeding the cats apart but in the same room. unfortunately our resident cat Molly totally stopped eating. we took her to the vet after the second day and $400 later she finally started eating again. that was so scary i had actually had to feed her with a syringe for a couple of days. the news cat Chrisy is super friendly and has no fear. she's about a year old and Molly is nine. i separated them again and was going to try again today. please help if you had any extra advice because i am so afraid Molly will stop eating again. i love you videos and thanks so much. bobbie
New kitty orange cat terrorizing my senior bengal….😮 he's on thin ice.
So cute but just terrible toddler…..hoping for the best
Can't stand this guy
My cats are bestfriends, until one day the oldest one have a fight with a random stray cat, when I bring my cat inside, she started yelling at my other cat, they're from bff to enemies, can someone please help what should I do to make them friends again 🙁
My older kittie has become fearful of her cat dad (me) since i brought home a new 4 month kitten last night. It's supposed to be only a test period for a few days or a week.
She has hissed bitten and clawed at me, my Maia .'I even found myself reacting like an angry cat myself.
I was in contact with another animal communicator 4 months after I got Maia 2 years ago she seemed to be interested in getting a playmate back then. .
Now, she seems to hate me since her little brother (from the same mother) came last night.
My left hand is all bitten and clawed up by Maia. I may even have made the mistake of mirroring her anger, and hissed back like a papa lion. I'm afraid I have lost her trust forever.
PLEASE HELP!
The setting where I am staying does not provide a healthy environment.
3 storey landed house. I stay at top level with my meow boy.
Another 2 cats (female) belong to my in-laws, and they stay at the middle level.
Most times, the 2 cats are roaming freely. At night, my boy is confined to our own top level. We even have to install a gate at the staircase to prevent my boy from zooming downstairs and maybe fight the other meow sisters.
I highly suspect one of their ginger cat is very territorial, and she literally "claimed" the entire middle level (and ground floor).
Honestly, I do not dare to and don't know how to get them close. The ginger often hiss and provoke my boy.
How can she have that many cats and not know a single thing about them? 😂 Absolutely so disrespectful, irresponsible and ego-inflated. So conceited.
