I want to get this and get lost in the story but turn based combat turns me off, I've tried sooooo many times to like it but it's just not my jam.

When recording the cut scenes, why did you not move the mouse out of the center?
There is no such thing as a perfect game!!! BG3 has been my personal game of the decade, but nothing is a perfect 10/10. Nothing! (Except ME1, fight me!) 😂

Reviewers hate giving 10s, but this one deserves it. What – compared with not only the current landscape but also the past 10 years of gaming – deserves better? If this isn’t a 10 game, I don’t know what is.
I agree EA is only in it for the money.
This game is great, definitely a contender for GOTY, although I’m interested to see what else comes out this year.
That being said, as great as this game is, there’s definitely a drop in quality around Act 3 as a lot of storylines either sputter out or rush their completion, also feeling quite a bit disjointed, however I think this is due to cut content and an entire area that was cut out at the end that was supposed to feature additional content that would have expanded the current quests that finish up in Act 3.
Also, with cut content being present, the decision you have to make at the end of the game seems a little early Mass Effect 3 prior to the Extended Cut DLC, especially with how the game hard cuts to credits with no further explanation afterwards of what happens to your party post adventure.
I will say that Act 1 and 2 are absolutely fantastic, and are the best parts of this game, where as Act 3 is where everything kind of hits a weird bump in the tracks as it basically rushes you to the finish line.
Don't know how you can say in a review "one of the best games I have ever played" and only give it a 9.5. Sure I too am very reluctant to give a game a 10.0 , but if you are going on a 100 point scale, all of the games in my top 20 are 9.8 minimum.

This is one the best games I’ve ever played. I hate crpgs and turned based combat but I love dnd with friends around a table. This damn game makes me feel like I’m actually playing dnd around a table. It’s crazy. Great games make you not mind the stuff you hate and elevate everything else you love.
It’s like finding that one death metal band that can get you to forget about guttural vocals because the damn music is so good.
That’s what bg3 is like for me. I’m don’t like turnbased isometric gameplay, but the game is so polished, so true to dnd, and the freaking voice acting is so we’ll done, I can’t help but look pass what I don’t like because what I do like is all time great.

Pro-tip for BG3: Don't let videogames become your identity to the point you whinge about a review score being 9.5 instead of 10
But I think it's stupid when one person writes the review and a different person reads it as if it's their own experience.
It's disingenuous and feels that way too.
Not everyone has to like the game and not everyone who likes it has to give it a perfect 10.
“Written by Josh Broadwell. Turned into a video by myself” his emotive terms, opinions, humour, tone of the video. All matches a script. He said “I found, I completed…” etc, but we have no idea if the narrator of this video even played the game at all.
I was wondering why the video was cropped to a smaller size and realised the black bars and game informer logo were covering up the water marks and logos of other twitch streamers and reviewers footage. This game deserves better than this sort of treatment from a mundane company that felt obligated to churn out a 6 minute review.
Shame on you.
Now they'll start bringing more polished games but forget about getting rid of battle passes and micro transactions if anything they'll be more predatory for players.
