Just got a standard schnauzer puppy. Need another way to hold the pup’s ears because we used the breeder method of breath right strips and one fall out after 24 hrs. Will this work on a standard schnauzer puppy ?
@AmericanStandardK9
I have a 9 week old cane corso and will be getting his ears done next week. Very informative video just one question, How long would you wrap them until they are fully stood on their own. I’ve read where people say around 6-8 weeks…
Plz make a video on boxers
Great video and love your content sir.
How soon after it’s done do you post the ears
we do not cut ears of our dogs
especially not this stupid shortage, it will rain into this cutting ears
not good
absolutely not
I did this but my dog scratched them off
How long should this be left on to ensure it will stay that way.
Thank you $$$$$
Ho long take to remove the tape
Can you post a cane corso ear even if you dont crop their ears
As someone looking into getting into a cane corso or Boerboel, what’s the pro’s of cropping ears? I’m genuinely curious (and admittedly I do like the aesthetic) any information is greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
When is it too late to do this
How long till they stand on their own
Question: my Cane Corso is about 16 weeks old & I don't think the ear were stabilized long enough & 1 is flopping kind of forward & closed. The other ear is perfect. Is it too late to train the other ear???
I’m pro docking and ear cropping as long as it’s done correctly and with care.
I want that breed . But I have seen some of them have their ears so much smaller ? How did they make it smaller in the first place ?.
PLEASE HELP! I got my Cane Corso's ears cropped. They told me to keep the cone for 2 weeks. I removed it today and just noticed 1 ear is like flipped outward. Is there any way I can remedy this at all? If so, how?
Nice! Just had my 10wk old Doberman cropped this week. It's traditional in America to crop the tails and ears so I'm sticking to the tradition. My parents raised and bread Dobermans when I was young in the late 70s and early 80s. They always cropped the tails and ears as well.
You the man, I love your tips and I love everything you do
This does seem very humane. Never heard of this method. My stepdad bred Doberman’s in the 80’s and he placed rubber bands tightly on their ears as puppies. Cleaned ears often and reapplied until they fell off and were suddenly shaped.
Hello, my Cane Corso is 3 1/2 months old. I’m able to still crop his ears?
A video like this disqualifies you as dog trainer in my eyes. Why? Talking about a "best way" is misleading because the taping follows a procedure, that is cruel and unneccassary. So the video should be pretty short, stating "You don't tape the ears, because you didn't crop them beforehand!" If there is no medical reason for it, cropping is absolutely unaccapteble and should be stated as such by someone calling himself a professional trainer. And yes, even if this video will be watched by people who have already cropped their dogs, like you stated in your pinned comment. Then, it's even more important, because those people need to understand, that what they've done to their beloved pets is prohibited by animal cruelty laws in several countries for a reason!
So, with your argument, you probably could put your video AFTER that clear state that cropping is abuse. But without it? Definitly a no-go for me.
Excellent vid! Had to tape my Am Staff’s ears a few times, as well as my friends Boxer. Will def pass this vid to my friends who are getting Dobies, Giant Schnauzer & a Beaurceron! Thanks again!!
So how many cycles of 3 days on & 1-2 days off would you do in total?
I love how we have a mix of both sides. Yes, it is a look and cosmetic, but there are also dogs that are severely prone to ear infections and cropping their ears helps significantly reduce this. Cane Corso's are one of these breeds that has health benefits from having their ears cropped.
People need to get off their high horses. I agree on not mutilating your animals for purely cosmetic reasons of a look you want.
Prong collars and shock collars are not cruelty. They teach obedience and discipline. If you use them right then you can stop using them after the behaviors are fixed and corrected properly. They are a tool.
Dogs are animals, pack mentality, alpha mentality. Dominance and control are there and if used the right way helps dogs be obedient. The alpha pack leader does similar things in the wild to assert Dominance and control and in the end a dog is an animal.
They can be loving, endearing, protective, and big babies. But you need to have a system of control in place to handle them when they are out of control or in a situation where instinct kicks in. Which may result in harm to other people, animals, or an inability to control itself.
These mechanisms when used properly help ensure the dog lives a long, healthy, and loving life. Just like anything else it can be abused, but these kinds of things are there for a reason.
I'm glad this is illegal in the EU
What is the benifit of cutting ears/tails? Or is it pure for the looks? I rather have my dogs hearing at 100% then 80% or less by cutting the ears. Seems kinda dum to do this to a gourding dog, etc.
