Oh my gosh, I have to try this with my three-year-old toy poodle. I have her trained really good. People always compliment me BUT whenever certain people come over, she always gets really excited and jumps on them and wants to do tricks and get treats. And it drives me insane. She eventually mellows out, but it’s just the initial first meeting of people that come over. And I will definitely have to implement it with my giant schnauzer puppy because she will end up knocking people over when she gets bigger. ❤❤❤❤❤

I have a female pitbull that just loves everyone, the biggest problem is not her training, it’s other people not respecting her in training, because they say oh it’s okay she just wants up because she wants love, problem is she doesn’t understand the difference between that with other people, I’ve started telling people right away she is in training to not jump up, please to not engage or pet her unless she is calm and on all four on the floor, I also step on her lead so she doesn’t have enough lead to jump up, and only release the lead if she is calm and on all fours with no excitement, I find she listens well but it’s other humans that don’t listen and respect that she’s in training and I do not want her at any time jumping up all over anyone…❤❤❤
Those are the people I tend to always step on her leash with because they encourage her to jump up for love and cuddles, and they seem to get offended that I’m being mean to my pup, but being mean would be allowing that behaviour and her jumping on a child or elderly person…
I find that dog owners need just as much training and to learn to respect the other dog and respect the owners wishes…❤❤❤

Everytime a dog jumps on me I fold both arms imfront of me become a statue and stare straight ahead. Everytime the dog immediately sits. Dog owners are always fascinated when their dog responds to that technique. once the dog sits then i will reward with a calm pet. Starts jumping repeat

Thank you for teaching this! I love dogs, for the most part but I don't even appreciate small dogs that jump or beg for my attention in intrusive ways and will not listen to the instructions to stop. Most of my dislike for larger dogs comes from intrusive and uncontrolled behavior.
