Remember a couple of weeks ago when there was a leak showing what was supposed to be an Apple iPhone 17 Pro with a visor-style camera island? It turns out that wasn’t true – that wasn’t the Pro. No, this may have been a leak of the upcoming iPhone 17 Air instead (initially reported as iPhone 17 Slim).
And what of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max? Well, they will have a visor too, just a much larger one. Here is the iPhone 17 Air next to the iPhone 17 Pro Max:
Speculative renders: iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Air
Front Page Tech has exclusive info on the iPhone 17 Pro design and has created renders (with the help of @Zellzoi) based on that info. You can see one above and there are a few more.
And yes, you are seeing this right – the Air has a single camera on the back. This means that in the year 2025 Apple will have not one but two smartphones with a single camera. In case you missed it, the iPhone SE 4 will be unveiled tomorrow.
Speculative renders: iPhone 17 Air
The Air will be replacing the Plus model this year. Initial reports of ridiculously high prices for the Air may have been just that, ridiculous. We don’t know the exact price yet, but it will apparently be much more suitable for a phone with one camera and a non-Pro Apple A19 chipset. It will be super thin, though, 5.5mm at its thinnest point.
Moving on to the Apple iPhone 17 Pro design, here are renders by @asherdipps. They show that Apple will maintain the triangular camera layout, but will extend the camera island to cover the whole width of the device.
Speculative renders of iPhone 17 Pro: Silver • Space Black
This is looking less like Google’s design and more like something that Xiaomi might make. What do you think?
The iPhone 17 Pro series is supposed to get an upgraded periscope with a 48MP sensor and a 5x lens (up from 12MP 5x on the 16 Pro series). Which doesn’t justify the huge camera island, of course, so we’re curious to hear why Apple went with this design.
Speculative render of iPhone 17 Pro
To be fair, the current camera island design dates back to the iPhone 11 series (2019), so a fresh design isn’t unwarranted. But this seems a bit much. Anyway, the iPhone 17 series won’t be out until September, so the focus is on the new iPhone SE now, then possibly new iPad Airs and/or iPad Pros, both with the upcoming Apple M4 chips and then the new mainline iPhone series.
