Perhaps it’s my familiarity with the genre or perhaps there are accessibility barriers I’m not aware of on your end but I found the rule book to be exceptional. Page 10 in particular has very clearly defined terms (and infographics) delineating the different card types.
Great video though! Thanks for helping with my purchasing decision!
Confirmed: Turns are extremely combo heavy, you(and the rest of the table) can think your turn is about over then you end up triggering an ability you forgot about that lets you draw 4 more cards, doubling your turn length, extending the cascade of combo cards infront of you. Being able to play cards you just purchased sounds nice but it means even more time taken by a single turn. It’s extremely frustrating waiting for your turn when you basically have to assume the market will be different when it comes to be your turn. Ive had combos so long and with so many cards involved i completely lost track of what i was doing (im a huge fan of dominion, star realms, OMEN, etc so im not new to deck builders) The theme and components are brilliant, but the gameplay is much MUCH too reliant on, and dedicated to players who enjoy making people wait for their extended combos. Other gripes are while the art is great, it often has nothing at all to do with the text on the card, with plenty of cards with completely different effects sharing thr exact same art. I understand if you only had a certain amount of art commissioned but having completely different cards sharing art not only appears lazy, it’s confusing and forces you to read the text every time instead of being able to use the art for what its normally used for in these types of games….identifying the card.
It looks like theyve made an updated rule book, yay! https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0558/2081/files/VIDEO_VORTEX_INSTRUCTIONS_2.0.pdf?v=1594142348
I am getting my copy of Video Vortex tonight. I got my copy of Time Stories Revolution a few weeks ago. I know Kevin and Melissa was a part of it.
Thanks for checking out our game!
Thanks for the tip on the cards. I got mine yesterday and unboxed and read the manual but had no idea which cards were what. I agree the manual did a poor job of setup but i'm excited to play.
Battle for Blockbuster! I think you must be of a certain age to appreciate the theme completely. LP; SP; Be kind, rewind; I remember that. It was funny when they continued to put that sticker on DVDs
