My honest Review on Gotham Knights – No spoilers
Well, I have finished the game and I don't think the fandom will ever trust what game developers say, especially in the case of WB Games Montréal. As the "creative liberties" and choices they have made towards this game have me very dissatisfied. Especially what they do with batman in this universe.(Yikes) Yes, the 3 villains shown in the marketing for this game are the only ones we play against with the additions of easter eggs and trophies. I will commend the game for its writing with specific characters but ultimately falls very flat. I enjoyed playing the game on my current-gen console and so my overall impression of playing it was pretty neutral. All the surrounding rumours about the being locked at 30 frames per second are true and will indeed have an impact on the individuals purchasing the game. I was able to finish the game in 2 days max I would say the game story campaign is around 15 hours. Aside game content like skills, Co-op, combat and side mission I think are the game’s strength but mainly your enjoyment on the game depends on you as individual. They were no glitches, or bug’s so that was pretty great. But aside from that the games story has be really conflicted wether it’s effects the quality or my enjoyment because the when this game comes out this Friday it will be VERY controversial. It’s goes to show why Warner bros hid the games story so strictly. As for the court of owls game debut the way we’re adapted was also very disappointing. Like the bait switch stuff they do regarding the story is getting really tiring at this point . As game developers if you know your not gonna commit to the game story please do not generate unnecessary hype just for the fans to be left unsatisfied(cough Arkham origins). My Overall rating for this is a good 6.5/10.

Be careful looking at replies in the comments. Some of them have spoilers. Just had the game ruined for me within a day of release.
Hard to say for sure if you should judge the timing. Some companies may want the reviews to drop close to release to keep the news cycle right on top of each other, rather than people seeing the review then kind of forgetting about it over a week or whatever, because sometimes news cycles fast. Main thing these days is to just not pre-order, wait for some reviews to get a sense for if anything seems amiss.

When a review embargo lifts this late for a film, it usually means the film is bad and they want people in the box office before reviews. That being said, I have no clue if you could say the same for games. I cancelled my preorder with the 30fps news but will happily buy the game if the reviews are even average.
