We adopted Aslan when he was 3. 10 years later he is much more clingy. He sleeps on me. He crawls into my arms when I'm just about anything. It's gotten particularly bad in the last year. So much so, there are time someone in my family has to put him in another room. Yes, he's seen a vet several times. Watching this video got me thinking.
What changed last year is that I spent 2 months in the hospital and rehab. I only came home twice. Neither time was he particularly happy with me. When I finally came home for good, he was the exact opposite. A year later, he has loosen up a bit, but he has found a little hovel in a bookshelf just 5 ft from me instead of 20. Lol. I love him to death. But he has a tenancy to lay up against my throat, press against my throat with his paw and walk on my stomach that hurts. Lol
My senior cat has designated Saturdays as lap days and will spend hours curled up in my lap. He also becomes more affectionate when I am “broken”- like after a major surgery.
My cat cuddles me long enough to develop an appetite, then runs off and eats her food. I think I calm her. (I can’t eat if my stomach is nervous). I have 3 cats so the dynamic is complicated which might contribute to her needing the affection (energy) prior to meals.
Great idea for a topic. And thanks for sharing another story about Burle.
We had a Siamese fella who wasn't a lap-cat; just wasn't his thing.
Towards the end of his time on this earth, though, he became much more sweeter (more than he already was), and became very much a lap-cat. It's almost like he knew his time was coming to an end, and wanted to make the most of it. :3
How much different are pets or animals in general than us. Life lesson.
Affectionate especially upon my waking? Yes, that’s my cat Clyde! Every morning, he curls up on me and anchors me to the bed—just as I’m about ready to get up. Figures. Cats!
👍🏻✌🏼😻
We've had some young cats that were full of that "I do what I want when I want" attitude. Then when something happened and they were away from us for a bit, maybe we went on trip and they were with a sitter for a few days or even a trip to the vet for a spay/neuter, that when we were all back home together again the cat was much friendlier. I always thought they realized how good they have it and maybe, just maybe, they even sort of missed us – a bit.
I’ve noticed that my cats seem to be more cuddly within a couple of days leading up to them hacking up a fur ball 😂 After it’s over they go back to their usual independent routine.
My little Deja is four years old. We had to put down our 17 year old female, Miiyagi. Deja has become more affectionate after. She even wakes me up for loves.
When my boy was a kitten, he wasn't overly affectionate. He showed affection and loved to play, but shied away from much in the way of cuddling. It seemed to be a part of his being a scaredy-cat, he was afraid of sudden noises and such, as well. But he's now six years old, and he's slowly getting more and more affectionate. He now jumps up into my lap on a daily basis, asks for pets and scritches, and even insists on morning cuddles as part of his daily campaign to ensure Daddy gets out of bed, lol. He doesn't ever seem to be in pain or anything, I think he's just slowly lost his being scared of touch and people.
My little kitty has learned when I'm about to leave for work, and gets super affectionate in an attempt to stop me leaving…
Bless her ❤
(I always get a warm welcome home too!)
My 3 have their “clingy” moments and their aloof times. They definitely move in close to me in the colder weather 😸❤️
Your baby passed at 20… ❤ great job cat daddy…😊
I noticed changes in with Cosette's daughter, Starlet. As a kitten, she used to be so shy I couldn't approach her. Her tabby brother was more playful and daring then. Now, she even trusts me enough to show her belly and let me rub it. At least, she didn't inherit her mother's distant personality. Cosette listens to me and follows like a dog, but she really isn't fond of human touch =/
It's the best of both worlds with Starlet, she is cuddly while being her spit image, also having the same wonderful golden eyes I love 😊
Is my cat (more) cuddly? He was last night!! Well that bad storm we had helped 🤣 He went under the blanket & smashed himself to me! He only does that when he is super scared.
I've noticed when I adopt cats they are much more cuddly, but then as they feel secure they are less like my baby and more like my buddy. When they become old, they seek my lap more and more
Kage is weird, some days he'll stay right near me and others I have to go look for him. Since Breccia went missing on Saturday, probably coyotes, he's been really affectionate
Cats get sweeter as they get older!
Warmth, or they aren't feeling well. Some cats hide when something's off, others need that extra TLC. They know if you're stressed too, that can make them cuddle more. My cats do morning snuggles cause they know they get good morning treats and breakfast 😂 then they go back to bed while I have to get ready for work, lucky kitties!
They tend do it when they get up there in years. I’ve seen this happen often. I think it’s their way to tell you something isn’t quite right with them anymore. When one of my senior cats gets suddenly affectionate I take them to the vet. One of my younger ones seeks me out during thunderstorms. She’s terrified of them. That’s why I rescued her from the outside. No one claimed her, so I did.
If I am sitting down one is going to sit with me. They are young and active so otherwise playing.
One of my cats was sort of hostile to affection when I first got him as a youngster (about 6 months old when we got him full-time). Eventually he figured out I was safe for him to cuddle up to. It probably didn’t hurt that he always observed my older cat (by a few years) doing so. Now he will follow me around for affection. He understands if I’m busy I’ll just rub the tips of my fingers down his back a few times, but he’ll sit or lay next to me for hours if I’m still.
Mine aren’t cuddly early in the morning. Usually afternoons are when they want to cuddle, especially before and after they eat.
My cats always been a bit cuddly but i noticed as they both got older the cuddly and clingynis also got worse female cat is 13 and my male cat is 15 i know its not healt reasons bc they had a check up recently and the yearly shots both as healty as they can be
After 22 revolutions around the sun my tuxedo still thinks she's people.,more so than some people I've met.
Thanking you kindly for your channel.
My cat is about 14. In the past year or so, she's become more cuddly. She especially seeks out snuggles after she eats.
She never stays for long. Maybe ten minutes.
I have been watching your videos since 2018 and I have learned a lot watching your videos… Great videos ❣️ I have only 2 cats now and 1 is 18yrs and the other is 8yrs… They make my life better 💞
My kiki meow is an older lady, she spends a lot of her day in her kitty 🏠 She does say an affectionate good morning, good bye, welcome home!, good night, and very politely and affectionately thanks me for treats.
She's a sweetheart ❤
My cats become MUCH more cuddly in the winter! I live in Arizona…it's hot…REALLY HOT. Even with the air conditioner on they can't sit on me like they do in the winter. So instead they jump up for a few scratches, head butt me, and lay down across from me. In the winter, they actually yell at me until I sit down on the couch, under a blanket…so they can lay on top of me, under the blanket. That's when the purrs continue until they fall asleep.
My tom cat has been a loving cat since he was a baby but I raised him from a new born so that may make a difference. Yes he is very lovable
