Also even if he is neutral, it just makes sense that most of the templars, people who crave power would be british, because during that time period England had a empire with a huge government to match it. Whereas the colonists had a smaller one.
If you watch some of the other trailers he clearly kills some blue coats.
Ubisoft said that AC3 wasn't an American Ra Ra story and that there were Templars on both sides.
