Look at the history of UFOs. I'm not talking about little green aliens from Mars. I'm talking about the definition of Unidentified Flying Objects. People have seen them through out history and today people always want to fill the context with aliens or top secret technology being hidden by governments.
Comets were at one time a UFO because the people who viewed them did not know what they were. Today UFOs are the same issue. It's an object which can not be identified. It could be a drone, it could be a bird, it could be an experimental device, it could be the human brain not being able to process the imagery.
I'm not doubting that pilots actually saw something, but the human brain works in ways which fill in the blanks. This has been shown in scientific research. What we think we see isn't what we actually saw. We think that since we saw something that it must be as our brain labeled it. Take for example the face on Mars. When you look at the photo in a low resolution, your brain is going to fill in the blanks and create a label for what it thinks it is seeing, a face. In the high resolution photo, it's only a mountain top.
And those videos by the military are not videos which are like the 8mm film that people used to used. Everything today is digital. Those sensors and computer chips /AI are trying to figure out what the 0s and 1s are and those objects are being created for us to see. The information is filtered and then an image is generated. Those images can also be ghost images.
And keep in mind, UFO sightings rarely existed before 1947. After Kenneth Arnold's story, sightings suddenly became a daily occurrence. Arnold instantly became famous and profited from the story. Later he believed and proposed that UFOs were where living organisms, calling them "sky jellyfish".
