An Owlbear is what, a CR 3? That's mid or late game, not an issue. The real issue is no bear type choice CR 4 to 6 exist for my druid.

I know this is a parody video, but the "owlbear situation" is one of the reasons I really love TreantMonk's Wildshape house-rules.
With that, instead of changing into a specific creature, you have a selection of stat-blocks to chose from (one for scouting, one for combat, exc), and each will have capabilities based on your stats, and a certain amount of Temp HP.
The actuality of "which creature" you turn into, is all flavor.
You can be a "Wolf" from level 2-20, and still keep up in combat, or even be an "Owlbear", and it won't change the stats.
I'm not sure what's going on here. Is this supposed to be some sort of comedy thing?

IMO, the Owl Bear Druid thing is completely reasonable… if you're a 9th level Circle of the Moon Druid, and you've done a quest / research / ritual / other DM-sanctioned character-development arc to learn how to transform into a Monstrosity. You can break the rules any way you want (as your DM allows). However, I don't believe you should just get to break the rules for free. There should be a price of some sort.
At my table, I would give the PC Druid the option to seek out and learn how to "Monstrosity-shift" as part of some forbidden Druid lore. If they chose to break the "Beast-only" rules of the Enclave then they might face repercussions ~ possibly being cast out of the Enclave, branded a heretic, and maybe even hunted down by their former friends. Mu-ah-hah-haaa!!

The owlbear druid thing: everything that is technically not rules as written should be discussed with your dm before the game. If when making the character (or anywhere before the game really) you bring up that you want to use your polymorph spell for an owlbear "like the movies" I will agree. Stall it out until you are putting me on the spot when you are saying you want to change into an owlbear though, and I'd refuse, because you don't put your dm on the spot like that.
Putting dm's on the spot with things that stretch the rules is the old dm vs player mentality. I am not being anti player, so any anti dm attempt will not be permitted either.
I once got to play a one-off with Chris Perkins as DM (4 players). It’s almost worth storming his house to get into his game. He’s that good.

She used the spell Shape Change! A very high level Druid spell! This joke was stupid when it was first made! I'm more interested in the magic item the Paladin is using! A helm that sends out a sonic pulse?!
Also, what about the item the party accidentally put into the hands of the villains, the Red Wizards?! It looks similar to the Draakhorn, in my opinion! Let's start talking about something that isn't your inability to open a book!
The party is high level! That's why they're taking on a high level threat! They will be using their high level abilities to do so!
Hopefully, we'll see another party member use an ability that is of similar level to the spell Shape Change; that way, you lot will stop making stupid jokes!
