Do you think 64gb is enough space for the steam deck.?
Yeah plenty
u are doing it wrong. get the 64gb one for 400 a 1TB ssd for 80 up grade the 64 gb to 1tb nvme boom jobs done
Why don’t you get the micro card
I have the 64 gig and it just fine for me with a 1tb SD card I have 30 games on mine that's more then enough for me
I have a "limit". It's "above 400$ is not worth for a console"…. BUT STEAM DECK IS A PC- but seriously i would only buy 64gb version but if it's not worth it then i gonna join the sad community of Nintendo that gets a boner and say that recent Nintendo Direct is the best cause of 2 interesting games, Gameboy emulator and Zelda trailer showing nothing and rest being games i couldn't give a single fuck, it was average
I bought the 64gb version and got a great deal on a 512gb Samsung sd card for storage. $50.88 for 512gb. I haven't played my Switch in a while so wanted to get the base model as I am sure they will release a second Steam Deck by next year. After hearing about the shader caches from another video, I kinda wish I went for the 256GB version but I will make with what I have.
64 GB … Anti glare screen protector….. 1TB SDC… 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've upgraded mine twice 1st a tb sd card then a tb sdd drive
64gig is 100% made for hard-drive swap
I ordered my 64GB today. It's a no brainer. Upgraded the SSD. Plus like my psp days.. alot of bed and couch gaming inside.
64 is enough only for the OS and some apps, for the game I just install it on my cheap 512gb micro sd
Is the internal the same in the 64GB? I mean if it's a slot to put in a SSD NVMe as the other decks have?
What you need is the 64gb model, install a 1tb SSD and buy a 1tb SD card, still cheaper than the 512gb model
Valve is garbage for selling this to their customers
Question is how can we remove the shader’s because that what taken up all the space, need a way to remove it because deleting a games don’t seem to help so what the next step.
Best model to get is the 64gb. Cause u can upgrade your ssd to the 512gb for only $50. I just upgrade to the 2tb this weekend 😁
I’m waiting on my 64GB to arrive. I figured for the overall cost it made sense to get the base model and install the new 1TB SSD. I plan to get a matte screen protector for the anti glare benefits. I’ll see how well it goes first with the 512GB sd card I have coming in the mail before making the upgrade. I think this is likely the best value at the moment.
The 64 GB model is for computer hobbyists my guy.
The kind of people who will have various projects lying around that were a fascinating idea and – oh hey I've already got a huge SD card I can slot right in after I rip it out of that thing that no longer does anything, and is that the exact model of harddrive the deck uses in the TB's?
It's meant for the people who will take the bare minimum at a cheap rate and swap out the relevant cheap parts with salvage from old projects that can now find its true home.
I have the 512 GB and 256 Gb model I would go with at least 256 Gb Deck since I rather buy the cheaper 512 Gb SD cards instead of the 1 TB cards. I did get 1tb Lexus card on sale at Thanksgiving. I have 4 512 Gb SD and one 1Tb SD. If I want to switch SD cards but there is a game I still currently playing on the SD I'm ejecting I will move that game to my interior storage. I keep most of my games on SD except some indy games that take up very little space.
There is a difference between writing speeds. My 1TB Lexus card will only write around 30 mb per second. As long as you have fast cards a game can load as fast on a SD card as the SSD interior storage. Thus I keep my large games on SD.
The major down side of the 64gb Deck is it's limits how many shader cache files for each game. You will likely notice before a game is download you see it downloads the shader cache files which are stored on the interior drive. Even if you uninstall a game the game's shader cache files are still in the "OTHER" you see when you check your interior storage. If you wonder why the OTHER is growing as you download games on the SD that's why.
You will have to manual clean out older shader cache files to make room for newer game's cache files. There is a program that allows you to look what in the "OTHER" files. Steam games have a number. You have to look up this number then remove the folder with that number to clean out it extra files for a game you are no longer playing.
64gb is the most value since you can upgrade it along the line.
Had the same thing happened with my XBOX 1
Honestly the 64 GB is the best model for the price just like me go by an 1 TB SSD online and also an SD card of a terabyte and you have two TB steam deck like me I have games like Black Ops 3 which is 112 GB Assassin's Creed Valhalla which is 156 GB and other games that just are massive I don't play any games on my steam deck so I need all the storage I can get but I still came out paying less than the guy who bought the 512 model and have way more space
I have the 64g model and I use a 512g samsung evo sd card. I have no need of anything bigger at this time and when my warranty is up in June I am going to put in a 1T ssd for cheaper than buying the biggest steam deck. Both MrRev and my adult daughter also have the 64g models and MrRev uses a 1T sd card and my daughter at this time is using a 256 sd card.
