I really liked this game. It took me about 70 hours and to completed it because I would play it on the weekends and when I was not working. I think it has great animations, Luigi doesn’t feel like a dead character following you behind, and they got rid of those annoying and confusing constant button switch from previous games. I did find the final boss really easy because I was probably over leveled (I think I was at level 54). This game took me two months in a half to complete it. Also, Bowser looks pure fire in this game.
Gonna be honest. The reviewer hits alot oc good points in the review. A 5 might be a bit harsh but its not that great of a game. It's a complete slog to get through. A 40-50hr game just feels way longer than that and its just stops getting not enjoyable after awhile.

I purchased the game last week regardless of IGNs review and, while I agree with some of the things they said like the performance etc, it’s still very much a good time imo. I don’t regret buying it and I’m a long time fan of the franchise. I only play my switch in hand held mode 90% of the time anyway. 8/10 ⭐️

The developers worked on this game. They also made Octopath Traveler. They also made Way of the Samurai. They also made Tenchu: Stealth Assassins. Nintendo Switch games being made with the Nintendo Switch 2 in mind before the Nintendo Switch 2's release poses a problem. If Sony made the PS4 Pro and Microsoft made the Xbox One X, the WHY DIDN'T NINTENDO MAKE THE NINTENDO SWITCH PRO?! If Sony and Microsoft release games on competing hardware, then why is Nintendo not following suit? And no, the Sega Advanced Pico Beena, Philips CDi, NEC PC-8801, Sharp X1, and Colecovision don't count. So it seems that IGN has officially become the Irate Gamer to our general knowledge! FACE IT, GAMING IS RUINED.
RGT, let me level with you. I watch you off and on, because I disagree with your takes quite often, this is one I wildly disagree with. Why? Simple, IGN is a company that consistently gives "Meh" games 7's. Kane and Lynch, the bad one, was given a 7. Brothership was given a 5 because Nintendo isn't rolling over to certian themes… Alphadream isn't making Mario and Luigi games anymore so this is a new development team to the series, I expect hiccups. Its a good start, even if there are some technical issues. I recommend a play.

After beating the game, I can confidently say: IGN was wrong on basically EVERY point they made! The performance was perfectly acceptable, compared to other switch games, the Story was the BEST in the series, the characters were charming as heck, the environments were the MOST diverse and interesting the series has ever seen!(one island is a literal jellyfish nightclub!) it's the first game in the series to do something ACTUALLY different with its final boss, the characterization of the bros and all our favorites is the best in the series, etc… IGN was just wrong on basically everything here, to the point where I wonder if they even played the game, or if they just wrote a bunch of BS then collected a check!

This game tries to be somewhat of an RPG and in such a game I would at least expect a halfway decent story

The only thing I feel like I could criticize beyond what you pointed out is that the characters in this game (excluding Mario and Luigi obviously) don’t look like they belong in the Mario universe universe.
