A woketoid loaded an NPC script instead of doing an actual video game review? You don't say!
yeah nice i search it after i read wired review. the WIRED review is racist. for harry pooter fan, seriously I like the game. the game is non- stop impressing me all the way. sorry for bad english. im not english speaker just trying to give my humble opinion.
While I agree with most of points brought up, I feel like it took you waaay to long to get to the meat of the matter of in this video, which is ironic, since it was one of the criticisms for the Wired review you've mentioned.
I felt physical discomfort while waiting for a conclusion or a summary and that was while listening at x1.5 speed.
I would recommend preparing a script or at least a list of key points before making a video like that. A bit of fact checking and research would probably make for much more interesting and entertaining video also.
Like so:
– Wired rates Hogwarts Legacy 1/10
– Summary of the review (read it, then generate summary via chatGPT):
"The article is a review of the video game "Hogwarts Legacy." The author has mixed feelings about the game as they have a personal connection to the Wizarding World from J.K. Rowling's books, but the author has had negative experiences with the author's recent anti-Semitic and transphobic comments. The game itself received a poor review, with the author finding the story rooted in anti-Semitic tropes, the gameplay and graphics outdated, and the characters one-dimensional. The author also felt that the game did not stay true to the established lore of the Wizarding World. The author concludes by acknowledging their personal connection to the books, but ultimately concludes that the game fails to capture the magic of the books."
– Discussion of whether politics should affect video games reviews
– Maybe cover concept "Death of the Author" (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DeathOfTheAuthor)
– Question qualifications and biases of Jaina Grey. Jaina is a member of LGBT community as per her Insta account, which is a basis for a bias against the game. The last video game review Jaina has produced (if you do not count "10 best" lists) was regarding the Lack of the music in Assasin Creed: Vallhalla in October 2021, since then Jaina was reviewing mostly sex toys, coffee machines, and tech.
– Conclusion/Opinion of why Wired made such controversial review (I believe it's a click bait, because Jaina has no experience to cover such release and mostly covers controversial topics for Wired)
As a game, it's overall decent. Nothing amazing, just an above average open world game. It's no Elden Ring or BotW, it's more like an "Immortals Fenix Rising" or "Sonic Frontiers." As a game, I probably rate it a 6.8/10. Arguably a 7 if it needed to be an exact score. However, AS A PRODUCT, it is absolutely horrendous. This is SOLELY because every single purchase of this game gives money directly to JK Rowling, an objectively terrible person who hates minorities and is involved with and funds multiple anti-LGBT hate groups. She is also vitriolically transphobic and is buddy-buddy with a multitude of people in the American and British far-right including rampant sexist and self-deceived "theocratic facist" Matt Walsh who's entire career revolves around bullying, harassing, and doxxing trans creators that speak out against him. If you want to get this game, buy it used. Because if you buy it new, you're giving money to JK Rowling who will use that money to fund hate groups actively harming and possibly killing real people, minorities. People are hating on this game SOLELY because of it's financial link to JK Rowling who is objectively a terrible person. I know Rowling had no involvement with the actual game's development, but with her financial ties to the ENTIRE HP franchise due to the contract she signed in the late 90s right before the first book came out which gave her 25% of ALL income generated by ANY AND ALL HP content makes her involvement in anything HP related unavoidable. Of course, the harassment of anyone who plays this game is absolutely wrong, especially since the majority of people who did never bought the game, they either got review codes or bought it used. That solves nothing. Instead, vote with your wallets, refuse to purchase the game new or buy any DLC, and continue to speak out against JKR's terrible actions. Only then can this situation change, and with the absolute failure of the last two fantastic beasts movies and the plummeting of HP merch sales despite rampant advertising (I see a shelf of HP merch for 75% off or more everywhere I go that sells them) the community's plan is working. For HP to continue as a brand, JKR must go. Even limiting her involvement to just financial isn't enough, especially when all that money she's getting goes to malicious causes.
It drives me nuts how reviews aren't moderated to have to actually be a review of the game itself. Opinion of the developer and/or weird political stuff like this should not qualify to be posted as a review of a game. 1/10 is just objectively incorrect lol. I definitely wouldn't say this is anywhere near a 10/10 game, but even being critical of it, I would still give it a solid 6-7.
It has some pacing issues with how fast you level versus where the game wants you to be level wise for certain quests. If you explore the castle first (something that pretty much every first time player would want to do) you over-level so fast that by the time you unlock certain things, they aren't even super useful to you.
The way cosmetic clothing is done is also annoying because you have to re-change every single piece of new gear you get to look like what you want it to rather than the opposite where you can turn it off if you like something you picked up.
And also there are some general performance problems and weird voice issues.
None of that is enough to warrant a 1/10. The rest of the game was an absolute blast.
It's not a review, its propaganda from a cult.
Wired hmm I'd go for tapped
Whoever wrote that review is a moron. Also, I’m not sure how many people pay attention to wired too much in the video game space but I will for sure be avoiding any articles from them going forward. Thanks for the continued content Alex.
I’m thoroughly enjoying the game so far and I’m no Harry Potter fan . I’ve never seen any of the movies . It’s a really fun open world RPG. I was really unsure on how this game would land with me considering I wasn’t a fan. 5 hours in I think it’s the best game I’ve played so far in 23 .
Even if they hate the world or JK Rowling this games is technically gorgeous, the gameplay is engaging and fun. The combat is intense and there is so much stuff to discover, collect and unlocked.
I agree,I won't be giving them the time of day.
hey alex, aparently if you use the way back machine they dont get any revenue for it 🤷♀️
I haven't been looking at many reviews because I've been enjoying the game but this is definitely the worst one I've seen. It made no sense
unreal
like why even do the review at that point and out yourself to the internet lmfao
First
It was made by someone who reviews sex toys! That's all you need to know.
Totally 💯 ridiculous tbh
