We have a cat clan in Bulgaria and they are very secure and happy when we are away. When we come back they are waiting for us us and excited and come in to snuggle in the house. They know we come back, they have each other and they have a massive outdoor territory. But I love the delighted way they greet us. It feels like they are telling us all about their fun and mischief and reconnecting but not like they were sad when we weren't around them. I love this video and I agree, cats need cats.
I got a pet camera so I can spy on my cats to see how they behave when I'm gone. They seem completely fine haha.
Cats R the BEST buddies
I have two female Persians they are sisters but from different litters a year and a half a part. They tolerate each other but aren’t buddies but i do feel better when I go to work knowing they have each other
Really pushing for that monetization you get for the 10 minute plus video. This video could’ve easily been 45 seconds.
I've seen way more separation anxiety in dogs than cats. I typically work a 9 1/2 hr shift. When I come home, I visit all my cats individually. On my days off, I notice that they gather in the same room I'm in, as if to indicate they've missed me and want to value my presence.
Miss you allready! ❤
Incredibly nice and sleep-deprived human…accurate, 😂i've been there with a bottle baby
I was in the hospital for several days due to a serious operation. All of my cats are rescues and I’ve never been away from them except for a few hours. When I got home, it was quite obvious. They missed me terribly because they wouldn’t leave me alone for a second. They rubbed all over me got on my lap and then got on my chest. That was two weeks ago and they’re still sticking around really close. It makes me feel like 1 million bucks.
One kitty is always at the door when I come home, ready to give me a lecture for leaving. The other one doesn't even wake up 😂
I have a very cute photo of my parents' cat giving my mom a hug after they came back from vacation.
My German shepherd doesn't miss me at all, he's so independent and likes his space. It's the opposite of the stereotype. My current cat doesn't miss me but I've had 2 cats who did miss me when I'd go.
Me and my kitties have a strong bond. I have always had very strong bonds with all my kitties. I work froom home so they are used to me always being home with them. I ended up inthe hospital for a month and it was very hard for them.
For my kitty it's a definite yes, as first he is really attached and imprinted on me so I have to sneak out and somehow he always comes running down even when he's sleeping and all comfortable in bed, then he'll start rubbing against me and holding onto my leg, then I have put him across the room and run then he'll start stress scratching the rug, then he watches me from the window and when I do come home he'll immediately jump up and run to the door followed by meows. And while I'm gone he always checks the doors every time he hears it open.
I can't go to the bathroom with the door shut, or my cats will demand to see me every second I'm in there. As long as they can see me, they're fine.
If I leave for more than a day, one of my cats gets "mad" at me. He will meow and be excited to see me and hiss at the same time. I've never seen a cat try so hard to communicate his feelings through verbiage. And he doesn't even need to say words for me to understand what he's trying to say.
Iam not sure what my cats do when i leave for the office, but i do know when i return they usualy are sleeping somewhere, raise their heads and give a look like "oh you're back? how nice, now fill the foodbowl and change the water in my waterfountain" and go right back to sleep.
Oooooh! Right. The pandemic. I just adopted a cat who is about 4-5 yrs old and I was having trouble figuring out her personality. It was different than any other cat I've ever had. Now I understand. Her critical social period probably happened while everyone was on lockdown. She's a COVID cat. She has this really relaxed way about her but she absolutely must be within her human's sphere all the time. She never goes off into another room to be by herself. But she's not a Velcro cat either. And she is chill about everything. She goes to the vet and her heart rate doesn't even go up. I had 20 people over for a party and she was a little unsure but she spent most of the time in the middle of everything with the people. Only retreating to the bedroom one or two times when a big crowd noise happened, but then came back out a few minutes later. So she's not a Velcro cat, not a hide in another room cat, but also not a sit nearby and be aloof cat either. She's constantly rolling over and asking for belly rubs and snuggles, if I invite her she will come over and snuggle on my lap. I'm home all the time and if I've been out she definitely needs extra snuggles. This all sounds like the traditional "like a dog" cat. But she's still very much like a cat. She isn't like those cats who think they are dogs. I was so confused, I thought maybe she had been a clinic cat or a store cat. I asked the shelter and they said she had belonged to a family who had been evicted from a home and lived in their car for a time. She somehow ran away from the car and back to her old home and the family never came back for her. Whoever they were they must have loved her well and miss her terribly. But she wasn't chipped and nobody ever responded to the found cat posters. So now she is ours and her personality is so wonderful and loving, but not needy. I feel lucky to have her.
I would get another cat for her, but the landlord won't allow it and I think me being home all day makes up for it. Also, my previous cats, who passed of old age a few years ago, did not like being in a multicat house. If it was cold they would sleep together for warmth but otherwise they only tolerated each other. And one demanded all the attention and playtime. She would even come if I called the other cats name. If I played with the other cat, she would take over. She was the Velcro cat and the other cat was the sit across the room and wish she could be part of the family cat. The Velcro cat passed first and we had 2 more years with the other cat before she passed. It was amazing to see her finally come out of her shell. Come for snuggles. Play. Be cute and demand attention like she never could before. People told us to get a new kitten to keep her company but I didn't have the heart. I was sure that she was 100% happy having us all to herself and that a new kitten would not be fair to her. So I don't think it's always the right thing to have more than one cat. I think it depends on the cat and the circumstances. I think as a pet parent you have a duty to know your cat that well. But I don't think there are as many people dedicated to their cats as I am. Our sweet Cassie lived 4 years with a heart condition when she was given 6 months to live. And the vet says the only reason she lived that long was because I was so dedicated too her and observant, I was constantly adjusting her meds to manage her symptoms. If she was breathing too fast, I knew it. If she was getting a little dehydrated from her diuretics, I immediately responded. People say cats are aloof. But cats probably think their humans are aloof.
Yes of course! I have a pet ritual with my good boy Thor every time I walk in the door! He definitely misses me! 😀😻😺
I was away for 5 days, my cat stayed upstairs and never came down, and stopped eating 😢 but when l came back absolutely aloof 😂
Have you seen you tube, about the tuxedo Todd? Do you know Todd, his owner has a digital device that he's trained the cat to communicate with him. Do you have any thoughts on those things??
Yes, some cats do miss you.
I have to go from the US, where I live, to New Zealand, where I',m from, for a month a year. My cat has so much anxiety when I pack, and so much anger when I return. It can take a month for my cat to get back with me when I return. My cat is usually with me 14 hours a day. So I feel totally guilty to leave him with my husband and health care aides. But, he does have people to hang with.
