I want to confirm: once a bird is occupying the 1st spot on ANY row, taking the action on that row now costs 1 egg, correct? So if i don't have an egg on the board, i can't take that action, correct?
And then if I end up putting a bird in the center row as my first action, I pretty much can't do anything because i can't lay eggs without giving up an egg, correct? So my engine is stalled?

When taking food, are we able to take one die at a time? This would enable us to take a die and then rethrow all dice if the remaining ones are all of the same symbol. We're having a discussion here whether this is the correct interpretation or not…

One question though. If you've played out five birds in Forest and then use the next action to gather a resource, does the action still cost 2 eggs? Or is it for free as a reward for filling up the forest with birds?

When a card says something like ''Take a wheat from the feeder if available'', you don't get to reroll the dice to check, even if there is only 1 die left (where you'd get the option to reroll otherwise when collecting food), correct?

wow. made this so much easier. what id have liked is explanation into nest types.
So now with this in mind, can anyone take a stab why this game is a classic 'engine builder'?? I am new to this. but my explanation for "engine builder" is = you are not directly earning feathers (VP) anywhere in the actual game play. except at round end stage. another reason for being engine builder is ALL the resources loop into each other meaning Spending A will you B and Spending C will give you back A = only with bigger bonuses as the game progresses = again NO direct VP earned.

I bought this game. It looks incredible and everyone online seems to love it. I went ahead and watched two lengthy videos On YouTube about gameplay, with each video having over 50k views each.
Still not sure exactly what the entire objective of the game is, and overwhelmed by seemingly endless options for each turn My Wife and I just invited two of our close friends over to play and figure it out.
After removing all of the game pieces and constructing the birdhouse, we discovered the game gives you a "run-through" mini game to play first, apparently to learn how to play.
We did this.
None of us can say with any confidence that we know how to play this game.
I play chess, GO, Monopoly, and dozens of other games.
For something so popular, I am amazed that me and three other highly intelligent people, having spent hours at this point trying to learn how to play wingspan, still have no idea how to play it.
Another close friend of mine plays this game regularly with his family. He told me that after playing with him, I would understand how to play wingspan.
Strange that every other game I've ever played I've picked up within 3 to 5 minutes, and this one just seems like a weird mystery.
I'm almost put off from ever wanting to learn simply because a game shouldn't have this steep of a learning curve.
Games are fun. At least that has been my experience in life thus far.
