I have had small little plants that are toxic if eaten . I find it difficult to let them go and choose between them and a cat because they r also like my babies. I grew them to be who they are .. :((
I have 2 cats, one would rather eat plastic, than houseplants. The other loves his greens. I found the IKEA glass cabinet with closed doors helpful.
I have one cat who doesn't care about plants and another that likes to munch! I try to always give them cat grass so she can get her munching energy out on that. You can even dress the cat grass up with a nice pot or something to make it look like it's part of the decoration. Other than that, I've found that different cats like to chew on different types of plants. My cat likes to chew on more stick-like or grass like plants as opposed to leafy plants like ferns. So if you know your cat and their preferences then you can get away with some mildly toxic plants within your cat's reach. I live in a really humid area so I'm considering keeping my plants on a glass enclosed plant shelf, but I'm worried it work for the majority of my plants.
Such a useless video
I’m about to be a new cat mom of 2and I have an affinity for Peace Lily plants. I want to have 2 peace lilies as well. This is giving me hope
This is so encouraging thank you
Cutie! Ours is black also but he's an angel it's the other one Olivia that loves my plants and anything I bring home in grocery store that's green
Yep that's my Olivia chomp chomp on everything
Nick, you have beautiful, cat!
Getting two kittens. I only have like 12 plants but need this advice. Also, I’m sure it’s a different video, but I must know how you water 400 house plants?! 🤯
I have a Denver at home.
My kitten loves to dig out the soil of the plants; what a mess. I have no solution to that problem, maybe I’ll get pine cones to place on the soil. Do you have an Idea what to do ?
Hopefully they would nibble or eat the wrong plant !!!!! Then the problem will be solved game over!!!!!🙄👎✌️
Jesus loves you
Does anyone know where I can find coasters/cupholders like this?
I really needed to smile tonight!
My cat has a vendetta against my birds nest fern
My awesome rescue 🐈⬛ leaves all my plants alone and she does not go on my counters none of my cats did
If I litter my floor with catnip plants, they would be too high to bother my other plants. Good plan? Yes? No? 😉
I have 7 cats. For the most part, I can only think of 2 that may want to 'explore' any of my plants (which are still outside, btw..lol). thanks for the video. Great ideas!
Our cat took a couple chews of our sansevieria, like when she started throwing up that was the first plant I checked. I couldn’t find any bite marks or chunks taken out or anything. But her lower jaw swelled up at least 3x the size of her head I was scared she was going to suffocate honestly and she was throwing up constantly and very clearly uncomfortable. We gave her 1/4 of a Benadryl and locked her in the bathroom with some water and her litter-box overnight. It wasn’t a couple days until the mother in law plant had shown where she had gnawed on the side of the plant. So the point of this story is that your cats definitely have very bad reactions to sansevieria so those specifically i would not keep ground level to kitties who you know like to chew plants.
Thank you! I've always windered how people do it. One of my two cats will eat even FAKE Christmas wreaths so I was worried. I'll just make sure to put the toxic ones in hanging pots and such.
My cat gets in every thing…….eat house plants. get into pots…dig out dirt…..use as a litter box……….how do I have house plants. that I love
I have a wonderful little cat and he LOVES plants. But it’s very easy to see which ones he actually interacts with in ways that could cause concern. Big plants do not pose an issue, such as a ficus. While the sap is an irritant and not good for any type of species, my little guy doesn’t bite the leaves because they are bigger than his head so I don’t have to worry about it! I also make sure that plants are placed in locations that are appropriate to their level of pet friendliness. For example, baby cat loves to chew on small thin leaves, like my little parlor palm which he loves to investigate so I leave it where it is accessible to him as well as a little catnip plant I got just for him which he loves to sniff and rub his face in. At the end of the day as a pet owner you are the person with the best knowledge of ur animal baby and if u can gauge how they react to plants, it’s not difficult to find a way for pets and plants to live in harmony :). That being said, there are certain plants like Lilys that should NEVER be brought into pet households, so always do ur research before bringing home a new plant. What a great video, thank u for this ! <3
U might want to spray your plants with pepper juice. Or vinegar. Buy or grow them some cat grass. Catnip. A carrot green. Give them their own goodies.
One of my cats can’t keep his mouth of them!! He got ahold of my parlor palm (cat safe on paper).. he ate enough of it that it made him ralf all over the place 🙄.
I had a string of pearls in a place I didn’t think he could get to… THAT was a fat vet bill.
I hope I can find a solution.
Do you not get bugs? I thought bugs like plants 🤔🤷♂️
My late cat used to destroy my cacti. She pulled them from the pots and carefully rolled them back and forward until their spikes bend or break, then butcher them and eat their pulp. Savage.
My current cat likes to pinch leaves with her teeth, not even eat, just makes holes. I have a small collection, so I just keep all my expensive and toxic plants in fish tanks.
Not only did my cats chew , but the worst was the pooping on the plants Uhgggg! I really wanted plants!

I would have guessed the question you get asked all the time is "Top or Bottom?"
I have 3 cats & lots of plants too. They never get into them, ever. Why? Because I have them all hanging from ceiling, in windows, on plant shelves, etc. I keep my plants out of reach. I'm aware of the toxic vs. fatal plants as well and keep no fatal plants. "Toxic" plants, if one of my cats tries to taste … well, they just don't like it. Tastes terrible to cats, especially species of pothos and phildendron.
My cat nibbled on a toxic plant today 🥺… she seems to be okay but I don’t want it to happen again
You have a calathea orbifolia!! Omg it’s gorgeous
I have one cat and she used to go to the toilet in my plants, so i moved all of my house plants into one room and i keep the door shut. I had no choice
I love your vibe!! This video was super helpful. Currently crying bc my cat is so freaking long (when he stretches out fully he’s like a fully cooked linguini noodle) that he figured out how to reach up to my wall shelves and still knocks over my plants. It’s a wonder any of them survive with how often im having to repot hahaha
Thank you for making a video clarifying this!
My cat keeps digging the soil out of my plants and makes a big mess all around. I could use all the advice on how to stop her from digging out the soil. I'm running out of places to hang my plants and I want to get some plants that I can leave within reach
For me it’s the ponytail palm no matter where I put it my cat goes after it and gives it a “haircut” lol
What cute kitties! Denver sounds like my Salem lol
My husband searched and read that lemon water sprayed on plants deter cats. We’ve been using it on our fern Janice and my REALLY naughty cat hasn’t touched it!
