AYANEO’s Gaming Pad and Pocket S2 are the first Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 powered devices

AYANEO announced its first Android gaming tablet along with a more traditional handheld console – these are the first devices to be powered by the new Snapdragon G3 Gen 3. The company describes this as a “gaming pad”, so let’s try not to call it a “tablet”. And its name is… the AYANEO Gaming Pad. There’s also the Pocket S2, which we will get to in a minute.

The Gaming Pad features an 8.3” 120Hz LCD with 1440p resolution. This almost maxes out the G3 chip, which can go up to 1440p @ 144Hz. The display is set inside an all-metal frame and, for the Explorer Edition, there is a transparent glass back.

Back to the chipset, it is actively cooled by a fan and uses high-efficiency thermal materials to optimize the system. This promises stable performance even during long gaming sessions.

While the AYANEO Gaming Pad can be used on its own, it shines when paired with the telescopic gaming controller. Other controllers are supported, including even keyboards and mice (it’s Android, after all).

Motion controls are an option too with the six-axis gyroscope. These can be used for shooting and racing games that support it.

The pad is equipped with “quad-chamber speakers”. Additionally, there is a 5MP camera on the front for live streaming (and video calls), plus a 50MP main and 13MP 120° ultra-wide cameras on the back for photos and videos.

The Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 is plenty powerful – its CPU is 30% faster than the Gen 2 chip and the GPU is 28% faster, plus it has support for UE5’s Lumen lighting tech and hardware acceleration for ray tracing. The chip also supports Wi-Fi 7, so if you want to stream your gameplay, you can do so with minimal latency.

If you want something more portable, the AYANEO Pocket S2 also brings Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 power to the table, but has a 6.3” IPS LCD with 1440p+ resolution and the controls are permanently affixed. Like its sibling, the S2 features active cooling for sustained performance.

The controls include Hall effect joysticks and Hall effect linear triggers. There are dual X-axis motors for haptic feedback. The body of the device is made out of CNC-machined metal and houses “the largest battery among Android handhelds of its size”, but AYANEO didn’t give an exact milliamp hour rating.

AYANEO hasn’t set a launch date for the Gaming Pad and the Pocket S2 yet, no pricing details are available either. You can find more about both here and here, as well as on the company’s official Discord.
