Yeah this game is great if you want to play through the same 3 rooms 3 times in a row then chuck attack dice on the table till something dies. (or sit in the corner spamming heal while other people attack as i did)

Between watching No Pun Inntended's review of HZD:TBG and this review, and watching a playthrough, it seems like MHW:TBG should be a pretty faithful translation since it's literally just "storybook reading, Boss battle, upgrade, and repeat."
