WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE MOVIE?? (If you've seen it yet.) I really hope we'll get more Mario universe movies in the future. 🙂
Thanks so much for watching! <3
please grow up
Nice post peebs
Honestly, this movie is garbage in my eyes. I'm glad you enjoyed it at least.
I saw the Illumination Mario Movie back in early April with my older brother. It was on Easter Sunday, to be exact, which was perfect since the movie is loaded with Mario Easter eggs. While I did have a good time with the Mario Movie… I did feel a bit underwhelmed with it from time to time. It is definitely made with the Mario fans in mind, and I did enjoy being rewarded for being a Mario fan, such as Kamek being dressed as Peach in Bowser's mock proposal, or the cameo from Pauline. But I did end up baffled in some areas, such as the training course scene being super fast, Luigi not getting much to do after he's been captured and that Luma character not really amounting to much other than some really funny lines. In fact, a lot of scenes went by with little fanfare, such as the Brooklyn scenes, the Yoshi scene, and even the development of characters. I'm not asking for super in-depth characters… that's a job for the overrated Last of Us TV show… but I do expect even in the breeziest of 90 minutes for some breathers or basic development, and we don't get much of that. Just words about something and that's it. Also, the movie was overhyped.
Still, I had a fun time with the new Mario Movie and it was probably the first Illumination movie I actually cared about. That's at least worth celebrating.
I was really bothered by the girlboss Peach crap and the licensed music, personally, and I didn't like any of the main voice cast except for Bowser and Toad. If they don't sound like Mario, Luigi, Peach, and DK, then they don't feel like those characters. The commercial in the beginning made it even more egregious in comparison, because they set you up at the start hearing these great voices, how they SHOULD'VE sounded, only to take them away and have them sound boring and normal the rest of the film.
I loved Bowser and the luma, I loved the visuals, I loved the original score, and I loved the action sequences, but everything else about it was pretty weak imo.
They will make us set up my movie did the show is the poster
Super mario bro movie greatast movie ever and score 100. perfect score
Please play with toys more, this is the content everyone needs.
If you ask me, I think they did listen to the Chris Pratt complaints. He actually sounds like a Brooklyn guy with the spirit of Mario far and few between, and not just himself again.
Bowser just eat peeps 3:00
~6:30 Seth definitely worded it poorly, but I'm pretty sure he just means that he doesn't/can't do character voices. Someone like Tom Kenny or Mel Blythe has a whole arsenal of voices that sound distinct enough from one another to identify on sound alone, but Seth just uses his voice. And he does well enough.
Character actors can/will design a voice for a character, but there are plenty of times when you just want that voice. Keith David and Morgan Freeman come to mind.
It was a okay movie.
Last weekend on Saturday I went to the 10:30 PM showing. Not many people but it was all adults.
I really loved the movie. The 80's songs were great and I love that Mario and Luigi are from
Brooklyn again. To me they always have been since I grew up with the Super Show which
I've always considered canon. Mario playing Kid Icarus on a NES at the beginning and all
the Super Mario Bros. music made me happy as well.
5:08 I thought he was dead
I have the same mario plushy backpack!
I honestly loved the movie, it was my most anticipated movie of the year and it was worth it, all the references and music nods especially the mario karts scenes made my grin from ear to ear
Hearing Seth say that made me mad. They could’ve got someone better for Donkey Kong.
Doubt
I liked it! When i saw the first easter egg ,i got so excited i tried to excitedly whisper it to my friend sitting next to me and actually choked a little.😅 I admit it was pretty light plot wise but honestly everythung was just so fun watching it I didnt care. I do think Toad needs to be promoted to Captain Toad in a sequel though
I feel so bad for Luigi being molested by the Bad Bowser always willing to marry
The Bowser song seemed more like a PBG song than anything
I guess you were one of the many that didn't see the SECOND post-credits scene lol
I leave when the lights turn on and the people start sweeping
Which was embarrassing actually when they came in 2 seconds after that scene
"Everyone in the theater enjoyed the movie, and I think if you're a fan of the movie you'll enjoy it also."
– Austin Hargrave, 4:25
Oh I full on cried after the initial Bowser Invasion scene and they started showing Mario and Luigi in their commercial and world. 30 years of my life on the big screen right there in front of me, so beautifully animated and true to the Mario Universe. It hit me right in the heart! I tried so hard not to be that person who was like "OMG THIS FROM THAT GAME AND OMG THAT FROM THIS GAME" to my bf the whole time 😂I had a non-stop smile on my face. I didnt mind the plot being so simple because I felt like this was meant to be more world building than story telling…. world building for more to come, which we definitely know is coming after that end credits scene!
Toad is there because the movie revolves around the mushroom kingdom that is full of toads
I can’t believe I paid 9 bucks for a ticket when I could’ve just watched your recap
I have autism so I've been over being the only adult in the audience 😅 for some time now I just like to injoy what I like and I don't care what anyone thinks
The following is my reaction throughout the movie with emojies.
Opening creds: 😎
Intro: 😀
Enter mushroom kingdom: 😐
Luigi meets bowser: 🤨
Bowser song: 🤮
Mario meets peach: 😑
Toad existing: 😐
DK appears: 🤔
Rainbow bridge: 😒
Peach, Mario and DK teamup: 🙁
Going back to NY: 😮💨
Mario and Luigi teamup: 😑
End credits roll: I think I want my money back 😮💨 🚪🚶♂️
When I went there wasn’t a single kid. I went to a 10pm late night imax showing and it was full of grown nerds like myself 😉
What I loved the most about the movie was the giant dump it took on the mean side of fandom that worships Luigi and thinks Mario is the antichrist, like, "Oh! You thought Luigi had family issues because he was a coward and not as good as Mario? WELL TO BAD! Mario is one with the issues because his dad thinks he's a disappointment who will hold Luigi back, and to rub it in, the brothers have the most wholesome brother relationship known to mankind! Take that!"
Also Lumalee was the best, the dog from the beginning was hilarious, and when I saw Mario cringe at eating mushrooms I turned to my brother and said "it's you"
I thought it was refreshing to see Peach not get kidnapped because she always seems to get kidnapped in the mainline games
hot take.. I'm also getting sick of the "strong woman" trope.. like Captain Marvel, She Hulk, Rings of Power ect..
Agreed with most of your opinions. My 6yo loved the movie and I did too. But you had very 10 year old focused intro that went for 3 minutes… could've been 2 minutes shorter. I mean my 6 yo would like that intro. But your breakdown was great, and appealed to us millennial people.
It seems like you're trying to get both ends of the bone. Appeal to one, you're alienating the other. That's my gripe. Sorry. Been a fan ever since before your first Chaos Mario64 video.
Anyway, just my thoughts. I could just be in the minority, but I love your content pbg. Keep it up my dude.
I thought it was pretty good
Good fun movie.
my friend and I watched it, we’re both in our twenties (21,29) and there was a lot of kids, but it was t super packed thankfully. we’ve discussed chris pratt being mario and we both felt iffy but the first scene really changed our perspective on it. it was genuinely a really good movie and it was so nice to have nintendo actually working on the movie instead of a third party company doing for them. i’m sure mr. miaymoto was a huge part of as to why the movie felt like it was made for us, the fans who’ve been there since the beginning (or since we were kids)
Dude, this movie was so much fun! I saw it with my girlfriend the other night and I also tried as hard as I could to not geek out over all the subtle Nintendo references… More than anything, I love just how joyful and fun this movie is, there's so much love for the franchise and Nintendo as a company. You can also tell the cast had a blast working on this film, especially Jack Black with that beautiful song of his 😁
I love it when you can abuse your stuffed dolls and they still smile at you 😂
I feel like you genuinely nailed the ending.
My 40 year old brother and I saw it on Monday. It was great!! We enjoyed it a lot and it makes more sense to me that adults would see it since we grew up with it haha.
i was sad that mario had no cake
I really want a luigis mansion movie
