Love watching these videos from ppl who understand animation! Illumination seems to crank out cash grabs with mediocre plots and rinse repeat! Also the only touch of illumination we see is in Mario’s face. Much like Pixar humans have a certain look so does illumination u know

I personally think Chris Pratt's voice is fine as it is. I understand the desire to have Charles Martinet play as Mario. But come on guys, you can't honestly believe the voice Charles does it meant to be heard constantly in a 2 hour movie. Charles' version is perfect for a mascot that speaks in short phrases and sentences. That's because Mario is a cartoony caricature of an Italian. For a movie, you gotta have an actor that can have a serious believable tone or else it just doesn't fit. I love Charles Martinet and I'm glad he's getting a cameo in the movie, but Chris is not that bad. I can definitely hear the subtle Brooklyn accent he's going for.

I'm glad you mentioned Toad's voice because they totally nailed it: close to the original but modified like when he's talking in a normal voice so you can tolerate it for a full movie
