Callisto Protocol's DLC proves things can always get worse

This DLC was actually surprisingly good, as someone who really disliked the main campaign.
Base game tries to scare you by screeching in your face and putting zombies in your face. It's cheap, and has so substance since combat is a complete joke. The story is predictable, and the protagonist reacts to what's obviously happening in the prison way too late.

The DLC scares you with subtle things. You catch glimpses of someone roaming around. Certain corridor sections repeat a la P.T. You feel like you can't trust everything you see. There's also that repeating chest section (iykyk), which impressed me because it's a cool sequence that the player can easily miss (studios dread this).

The robots aren't amazing, but they feel like a refinement of the game's melee-heavy combat since it's not just left+right+attack anymore; you actually have to pay attention and know when to move away for their blast attack.

The story- well there isn't one. You're just trying to escape, but it turns out it's all a dream. EXCEPT! If you read the text logs accompanying the audio logs, you're in for the most creative writing in this game by far. It talks of how a strain of this virus existed in pre-colonial South America, and how a medieval European cult who worship "survival" studied it. How the power politics of the cult changed over time, and how this colony on Callisto came to be. It was actually very interesting, and I'm impressed that they decided to hide it away for the curious, instead of having characters repeat it 10 times in dialogue to make sure EVERY PLAYER knows what's going on.

There are 2 things I HATE in video games. If games have these 2 things I’ll probably just not play it unless they are very, I mean very forgiving lol. That is, stealth and underwater levels. Hate them!

Remember in Dead Space 1 you need to time the dodge attack yourself
And Melee is making you vulnerable in 2 v 1

this game was so bad i didn't even bother with the DLC, straight up scam having the ending in DLC.

I hated this DLC so much. I thought the devs were going to explore Cole’s cult and maybe even have you fight him as a mutant for the final boss. There’s a low chance there’s going to be a sequel so making Cole the final boss could have given some finality to the title. But instead, they double down on Jacob’s guilt and have Waller constantly chant at him to keep fighting. Such a lame send off.

Don’t worry, there’s still one more DLC where they reveal that this one was actually focused on John Callisto’s preciously unmentioned twin brother.

the game is really good don't listen to him and the dodge mechanics is easy AF , it's fun to fuck those zombies the only downside is the ending

That combat sequence with Cryoshell in the background did go incredibly hard, though.

Imagine living in current times, where people universally agree that a “it was a dream/hallucination” ending is the worst possible thing that can happen to a story, and still making this decision.

i don't think most people even realized it got DLC.

Fucking hate that i preordered this game and no im not paying for your damn dlc when your original game was short, bland, and buggy.
