If not corrected this kind of behavior will not stop. I know some one that now has a dog because of marriage. The dog is 8 and still does this stuff when people enter the house. How do we deal with this in someone else's house if their dog is doing this to us ?
Mommy, mommy, mommy! Stop it😂
no . once i see you pushing that doberman backwards towards the untrained dog.
This is helpful. Playing with other dogs such as a dog park? I always hesitant to go there
He’s a pretty big dog for six months old- glad the owner sought help before he was too big for her to handle ❤
My 12 week old puppy that I have had since he was. 7 weeks old, jumps up on my 10 year old golden and tries to play with him. The older dog does not like it at all! He growls and barks at him. He will not engage nicely. I just have to keep them separated 😢
I commented recently (maybe yesterday), commending this channel as fantastic. Since then, my 9mo Border Collie has made amazing progress! No treats needed! It is unbelievable!
Dang this is exactly what I needed for my pup. I think they are even the same breed lol love your videos
Repetition is king
This is complete bullshit Cesar copy cat crap and it needs to stop!
That dog is nuts. When he kept mouthing and Joel kept grabbing him the dog could have walked away at any point and he didn't. Crazy stuff.
I had a colt who at six months was just like that dog. Trying to lead him he'd bite my hand real quick. Just a nip but his teeth were very sharp and it hurt so much. He had other horses to play with, he should have been satiated! So I took a long nail about 3 inches long, a sort of blunt one, and held it in my fingers with about 1/4 inch of the point sticking out. He went to bite me and poked his lip on that. He repeated that about 5 times and then he decided it wasn't as much fun. I repeated that for a few days and it became less and less frequent and then stopped. I didn't jab him with it, I was just holding it, he did it to himself. And it did not break the skin, unlike his teeth.
I've fostered almost 30 dogs in the last 5 years. I look for those who are about to be euthanized because they're either cowering in a corner quivering, or are acting like they want to attack everyone who stops at their cage at the shelter. I just want to make them feel safe and loved and not so afraid. It takes anywhere from 2 hours to 4 days for them to come out of their shell. When they do, some of them start play-mouthing and nipping and I never knew what to do besides turn away. My current one is 80 lbs and he does it. I tried this, and it works but I've had to keep doing it because he forgets. Also, I have to get low and get my footing secure before I grab. The first time I grabbed, he dropped to his side and I went with him.
I pinched the cheek into the teeth when I was young too, interesting to see that this is a method that actually has a place during mouthing
The training on this channel is excellent but I hate the use of dog “mom” or “dad”. Dog owners need to stop thinking of these animals as children. Because they’re not.
I’m so sick of these politically correct people trying to tell us how to train dogs. I’m a no nonsense person and I get right to the truth. This is good
As a total newbie to dog ownership, I've been binge watching your videos the last few days as I await my rescue pittie/boxer/collie mix. Your methods work! Practicing on dogs at work (I work in emergency Homeless shelter and our clients have dogs.
I immediately recognized what happened with this dog before he obeyed as an extinction burst in humans LO.L Always gets worse before it gets better
I feel like people are the same in a sense lol 😂
What?
Other dogs don't mind jumping and nipping?
My 4 year old dalmatian hates it when my 16 week old viszla puppy jumps and nipps him. He's always correcting him with barking, growling and pushing him down until he stops.
This is insanity.
👍👍👍👍
A dog should never be taken away from its mother and siblings before 8 to 10 weeks. It hasn’t learnt manners and bite inhibition and probably never will. It’s a vital part of its development to learn from its mother.
Love your work & skills. Only asking why you don't use your voice to help pup with understanding. A verbal ' A'
I feel any dog would grasp what your telling them in such a faster manner. I've used it a lot . dogs so clued up to sound. 🎉❤
Terrible
The lady doesn’t like it. We don’t like to discipline or especially watch others teach but it’s soooo important to mix this in with your puppy rearing, of course with bad behaviours.
I have repeated these steps so many times, over and over since our puppy was 2 months old. Finally, at 7 months he’s calmed down a bit and will think twice before nipping and biting. Like Joel said, you got to get stronger and faster every time! Took some time but it worked!
Oh my goodness my rescue dog does this to me all the time. She only weighs 13 lb but she can jump a 6-foot fence with no problem. Her jumping on people and nipping is terrible😮 this video is definitely going to be a big help to me.
He's a bit passive aggressive with the owner
How early is too early to start teaching pupper not to mouth you? We have a Kangal mix girl, she’s sweet and only ten weeks old but she’s going to be huge and her mouthing has drawn scratches that bleed. Can I start training her not to mouth at this age or is it too early?
Great vlog, 👍
I have no access to other dog to help my puppy stop jumping and nipping. I need other methods
Why out of shape people get athletic dogs?
This woman is thick she will go home and will go back to exactly what she did before she turned up here
Need some guidance on what to do when your dog was okay with other dogs, and i was able to pet other dogs. However, now shes a bit aggressive and will not let me pet other dogs, put my stuff down at dog parks because shes possessive towards the items as well as towards her ball. Im not sure what to do. Also, shes not a fan of kids. She nipped at my little brother, and i have been researching endlessly and training, but we dont interact with my little brothers much (usually family gatherings). Any good tips would be very appreciated. Thank you🙏🏼
Im watching your videos, and will make my husband watch. We got our pup at 8 weeks. Allowed some behavior because he was a baby. But all, and I mean all, corrections are viewed as a game. And the more intense the correction, the more the game goes on. Nothing phases this dog. And he is only 4 months old. He is already signed up for professional training when he is 9 months old.
Whew this is advice I needed. I’m pretty good at the tough love for sure but still have trouble with my pup jumping and mouthing me a bit.
My Max likes to jump and play very rough, but it’s only during certain sessions, and a certain place. In our fenced in area. I literally wear a jacket and we go and play fight and ball throw and stuff. If he’s in the house or with anyone else he never does this. Even they are in the cage with him. We get an occasional jump against a male, but just gotta tell him no. He understands when it’s time to play and when it’s not. Now sometimes he gets to rough because he’s gotten bigger. That’s when firm words come out. He does t like it but he stops. He plays with his sister as well. He’ll play with other females fine. I have to watch him so he doesn’t get to rough. But with other males is a no go. Esp if they have a dominant personality. He’s went at some very big dogs that were dominant towards him. All males. It’s not just a bite or warning. He’s wants to fight. So that’s a huge no no. Haven’t been able to get that out of him sadly. So I do have to separate him from other male dogs.
