It was a fun game but to me the story fell a bit after the starting of the game half. It felt a bit rushed and not fulfilling vs the 2018 god of war story. Combat is great with some issues from the original but overall great and lots of enemies variety
I feel everything was spot on here but the fact that they did not really bring some stuff that 2018 did better. Things like "huge fights", like the Baldur one, or the dragon fight or when you have to pull down thors hammer. I miss these things that they did so good in 2018. Otherwise, fantastic game!

GoWR over Elden Ring for game of the year? I disagree.
Gow peaked with 3 and Ragnarok doesn't change that
Tbh I was disappointed in the ending, it just didnt feel grand, it was half fighting the same mobs you have been through the whole game, and then you fighting thor and odin infront of his cabin, it was cool, but it wasnt grand, like how you'd expect the great Ragnarok war to be or feel. The older games had you fighting ontop of titans, creating destruction, had huge set pieces that gave you a surreal feeling that actually made you feel like a god in the game, we couldve had the thor fight on jormangandr or something, but instead you fight him in odins front yard.
Honestly, GoW 1-3, having played those just made this ending hit 20x harder than if I hadn't played the originals
My only major complaint about GoW:R is that on GmGoW difficulty, the trash mobs are way too hard compared to the bosses. The bosses feel perfectly balanced, are well designed, and feel good to overcome. The one-hit trash mobs that swarm and, for god's sake, have homing attacks, feel terrible to fight.

The thing I hate the most in 2018 and this one is the exploration. So many dead ends and the areas don't really connect well with each other. I always got confused in how to get to a specific place and the mini map is also really bad.
The over arching story for Ragnorok… isnt good compared to 2018, it's kind of a mess…

An amazing game from an amazing studio, that being said. IT just does not beat Elden Ring in alot of ways. Yes they made this god of war much better, but its still just that. God of war. Elden Ring broke innovation and it gave us true gaming again, something we all have been wanting for a very long time in an industry where season passes and micro transactions and cosmetics riddled every corner. The map, the art, the music, the bosses, the amazing progression, customization and replay value has it at the best game of the decade. Literally, i do not see anything beating Elden Ring. Not even Ragnarok.

It's my GOTY too, I expected it to be despite the previous GoW 2018 not resonating with me as much as with everyone else (I still very much enjoyed it, RDR2 was my GOTY that year though). I legit did not expect to like this game as much as I did, it went way beyond expectations for me personally

The only God of War I've played and it's easily one of the best games I've ever played in my life.
I've never laughed so much from a video game and the voice acting is better than most tv shows/movies out there. I became attached to each character and the development is top tier. Story is engaging and keeps you hooked.
I didn't watch this playthrough cause I'm playing it myself, and so far it's an absolute masterpiece. If possible, I totally recommend playing the older ones if you haven't. 1, 2, 3, Chains of Olympus, and Ghost of Sparta. Some of my favorite moments have been when he talks about what he did in those old games. And the growth and changes Kratos has gone through are much more impactful.

I think that deaths in Ragnarok were not as impactful and out of nowhere. I thought Thor would have this redemption arc where he would fight against Odin, and that never happened. Also, can we talk about how Freyr literally appeared at the very end just to die?

there's a sound glitch in the video at the point where he mentions amount of deaths. that really need fixing if someone could just edit in a bunch of zero's after the 'seven' that'd be great.
