Let Obsidian make Baldurs Gate 4
They shouldve called it Baldur's Gate: Awakening or some shit.
Amazing wonderful game, but this was effectively just a marketing thing for them as a company. Not saying its not amazing, cause it is. But they could've done the same with IWD or Planescape Torment easily.
If Solasta II ends up with half the production quality and storytelling quality as BG3, it'll sell amazing.
useless video. 10 seconds of info and the rest is fluff
but Larian is still working on patch 8, may be they’ll reconsider, otherwise what’s the reason to upgrade the game now with new subclasses and everything
I concede that it works, but I'm not a fan of companies releasing half-baked products at early release. It puts the onus on players to find the shortcomings the devs missed. Undoubtedly, it works, but I played the early access and was underwhelmed. It took another year before I gave it another go and was pleasantly surprised. BG3 is now one of my favorite games of all time, but it took a while for the bad taste of the early release to wear off.
do not like — Esthetics — of the game at all — apsolutely not appealing .. :/
Larian is just being nice…
I for one get tired of the same thing over and over. All the big boy MMO's want me to keep playing and paying but I need something new after a while. Once I know all the mechanics of the game I tire easily. Lucky for them i'm a slow learner.
It helps that the voice actors were the perfect fit for the charaters they played. maybe the best of any game to date.
I would love dlc, maybe more into mind flayers and their magicks, but bg3 already has so much in its base form plus every patch adds more content, p8 coming soon with new subclasses, I missed around 60% of content in my first play through, most notable being that underwater prison like how tf I'm supposed to know where to go to get there, game never tells you either, maybe now it does but when i played not a peep was uttered about it
I cant wait to see what other ttrpg video game they put out. Fingers crossed they keep doing that
They have NOT done their job. Act 2 and 3 are nothing near what act 1 was… act 1 genuinely made me feel like anything was possible and any action can change the game in nuanced ways.. but act 2 and 3 felt like more of the same we expect from other studios. I was really hoping for another baldurs gate.. or at least another dnd style game.
I get it.. act 1 was the early access content and they got plenty of feedback.. the next step isn't being told what to do , but to use that information to make new content… because its a shame the feedback didn't bleed into other acts, regardless of the feedback being specific to act 1. this also explains the reviews because reviewers probably wouldn't get passed act 1.
easily one of my favourite games of the decade, so I think my critique is fair.
We have got so used to games lowering the bar that baldurs gate seems peak, we know we can do better.. I say we should encourage studios to take their time with games going forward.
i'm 52 years old. i have been gaming since my Atari 2600 years in 1984. Baldur's Gate 3 is the greatest game i have played in my lifetime alongside Mass Effect and Zelda Ocarina of time. these games have changed the game.
Imagine a Syfy game with bg3 mechanics and a mass effect like story…. God that would be good
I think it's really that a lot of people don't know how Larian works and +90% of the audience never heard about them, or their previous self published Divinity series, until BG3. Larian has a history and philosophy when it comes to development of keeping things like how games traditionally were, that being complete on delivery and not having an extra $150-$500 of paid extra content planned from that day of original release (which may be extra ideas that were never finished at best, or just finished sections that are cut away and resold back at worst). At most Larian does tweaks/bug fixes to make sure everything is complete and smooth, and potentially the gift-bags seen in DOS2 which are free and effectively just the top player made/used mods officially implemented as optional content so anyone can use them, including console players.
They may also have been limited/forced by WotC and Hasbro for some game design and plot decisions because it's not Larian's IP, where with Divinity they can do absolutely anything and there is nobody looking down on them to say "No no, we want/don't want this included" even if Larian and players disagree (and based on the stuff that WorC/Hasbro has been doing over the past year or so with 5e, it wouldn't surprise me if there were things they said to do/not do even if Larian and players were against it).
did this need to be a 10+ min video?
Hope we get a good baldurs gate 4 one day though even if far
Because Larian is smart and WotC is doing all they can to monetize DnD.
They'd have bi-yeatly BG installments if the execs got their way.
Mods are epic
Damn good game. DESERVED ALL THE PRAISE
2 things. First, Respect larian for their choices, sucks we get no DLC, but still amazing game.
2ND, NERD FLAG WAVING TIME! Love the githyanki in the game, what most people kinda dont get is that the gith (both races As there is the githyanki and the githzerai. BOth are the same race but sundered by millenia of enslavement by the illithids. Thus both factions absolutely HATE the squidheads with a burning passion and hunt them down whenever possible. The githyanki are very militaristic and Xenophobic. While the Githzerai are more like scholars/warrior monks.
The githyanki in the game are Perfect respresentations of the race. Also side note? DONT EVER TAKE THEIR SILVER SWORDS. This is a VERY bad idea . NEVER. TOUCH.THE. SWORDS!. If you do they will hunt you down to get it back. and if you break it.. well.. play NWN 2 for that
Come on, turn-based combat without auto-combat, hours of chores before we can progress the story, and 75% identical pathways, no matter, if we play a tank or healer or arcane bookworm. BG4 will be better!
After all the years they worked on it, I can understand they can't see it anymore. Do something else for a couple of years, and then reconsider.
On the bright side, they're slowly releasing the work they did on the DLC as spread out content updates instead.
once theyve worked out all the in game mod support kinks out the way , thisll be the new skyrim in terms of longetivity , with modders already working on making entire new areas and questlines to do in game
The one company where i want to give them more money and the one company that won't sell me dlc. Monetize me god damn it.
All these crpg babies really don’t know it’s simply bc they are working on DOS3 😂😂😂😂
Disappointed because id like more excellence. But it doesn't need it. Still find stuff i missed. Probably my best game in the last few years
Need a 4k game at 80° camera angles, cute feminine, 5090 at least for girls.
Wizards of the coast : Convince us that you'll do justice to our IP with a presentation
Larian : (Produces a copy of DOS II) THIS is our presentation
Wizards of the Coast : Say no more, you'll make us proud.
Screw Wizards of the coast for destroying DnD and screw Hasbro for letting them.
It would be amazing for them to do their own thing for couple of years and to come back later to do Baldur Gate 4
remember when DLC was not even a thing . . a good game was a complete game on its own?
9:44 That’s crazy to me because the Emerald Grove fight wi he Zevlor is one of my favorite fights of the entire game. I look forward to it every new play through I start. It was great, on one play through, the goblins killed all the humans and it was just my party, on another play through Gale and Shadowheart were killed etc. I love the permanent consequences of the game; that’s why it’s one of the best games ever made
Larian canceled all future Baldur's Gate content because they want to make a live service card game 😂
Guys, after 11 minutes I didn't get why Larian said goodbye to the DLC. Just saying.
Not related but being f-ed by a bear helped DiCaprio to finally get an Oscar… so you never know, it might be worth it!
interesting video but if the voice is not AI then please learn to speak without sounding like a machine. Horrible to listen to, with sentences that all sound like they're the same, with the same predictable intonation. Great vid, terrible reading.
i'd sell my left leg for lazel
I can't be the only one whose fondest desire is a Larian made oldschool Fallout game.
One thing I’d love to see is for bg3 to sort of be the next half life, in the sense on gmod was released from that they could release a thing to make you’re own campaigns, you could raise the level to 20 if you so wished make structures design the other subclasses to be in the game too
Baldurs gate was buggy at launch? I played it on my old Alienware m17 laptop I got when I was 17 and it ran perfectly.
This game will be played for a decade or more.
Now look. I love this game. But the replayability here has been massively exaggerated lol.
I loved BG3. It blew everything away in terms of graphics, voice acting, cinematics, and character creation. However best story? Best characters? Best in player choice? No, I still give that to Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous.
