I have had a multitude of dogs over the years… I’ve never lived without a dog to be honest. I’ve had everything from Chihuahuas and Shih Tzu and Maltese German shepherd‘s boxers… My golden is the most loving, docile dog. So smart. Beautiful. I would never want to live without one again.
I had a black lab for 14 years. She had dysplasia in both her front legs. It was to the point where she couldnt get up on her own. She became miserable and wouldnt eat. After trying to hand feed her for 3 days, I put the poor girl to sleep. This was 18 years ago. I never replaced her. I don't ever want to go through that again. It's like losing a child.
My labrador only barks when its time for her to eat.

We have big beautiful 3 yr old golden lab called Oakley …she's a typical lab ..idiotic and chaotic at times 🤣….she's so great with our kids and is also fiercely protective of them and her home (if someone knocks our front door she goes ballistic)…these a big strong high energy dogs and I think they're very underestimated a lot of the time they need constant exercise and stimulation and are never happier than in water
both are very good dogs the différence is the Brown labs are supercharged

The Golden Retriever had a wonderful attitude, the Labrador was so chilled out.
My black lab was so clever he came from gun dog stock and he just loved to swim 😊
The big difference is the physical strength. A Labrador may not be twice as strong as a Golden, but not far off. So letting a child walk a Lab on a leash can end in disaster.

I'm a black lab mom and she is absolutly perfect. So kind with everybody, very smart and she listens quite well. Only thing is that they always need to do something, being entertained.
Zoe my comfort dog was a rescue who passed at 16 years and 2 weeks..my first golden also made it to 16. Best dogs for families. RIP

I just adopted a 3 year old golden…she is such a sweet dog…expensive yes…priceless also yes. 😂🤣. So glad I can give her a home…in a very short period of time…she owns me, but she takes good care of me 🥰
You can't go wrong with either breed. Even though they were bred in two different places they sure seem to be close cousins.
Dad had a lab in the 70s that had failed out of the rigorous training of legendary" The Seeing Eye . It was a great dog , but not top 1% . 100s of game were harvested with good old Black Bear .

I breed and train workings dogs, and I can confirm that Labradors are more robust. Both are beautiful dogs, but on average Labradors will recovery more quickly to a startle or a difficult situation. That is one of the key reasons why here in Australia Labradors are pretty much the default detection, service or assistance dogs, it’s very rare to see another breed.
I had a beautiful golden retriever for almost 13 years, she was the best dog ever.
I have a mixed breed now. Part golden part something else.
The part something else rules her, as she's nothing like my other golden.
Basically, labs are maesthetic chads and goldens are pretty boy chads.
