Theory: this actually was supposed to be a demo for superman 64, but since they were on a tight schedule, they just sent in the demo.
Me: I wonder if they're going to… yep, they're usuing footage from ProtonJon's LP.
Fun fact: Originally, this was going to get ported to the PlayStation, but when it got… less than flattering review scores, they set BlueSky Software to make a brand new Superman game. But unfortunately, it wasn't finished before TItus' license for Superman ran out, and due to how much of a disaster Superman 64 was, Warner refused to give them more time to finish it.
I'm also kinda surprised that for an 'honest game trailer', they got several things wrong but I guess it's more meant to be funny than actually accurate.
The suicide squad game made me realize something.
