I think the wiggling has nothing to do with excitement. It’s a human mistake to believe that. If you look closely , you can see it’s not just wiggling. It’s a very precisely movement. All about concentration, aiming, calculating, warming up the muscles, building up adrenaline. The attack comes from a hidden motionless position, to a sudden outburst of energy. To accomplish that, you have to get your muscles ready, preparing for the explosion of energy and that’s the biggest reason of the wiggle. It’s just logical. With fear and excitement you loose some control about the situation and that will never happen when a cat prepares for a attack. When my cats are excited they run and jump like crazy after each other, taking risks. When they prepare themselves for a attack, you can feel and see the build up energy, the control of every movement with their eyes focused on their prey. The wiggling in a precise rhythm. A killing machine firing up. Your kid experience of excitement (bouncing up and down out of control) has absolutely nothing to do with the wiggle of a cat before attack.
