Locus Robotics surpasses 5B picks with its warehouse automation

Locus Robotics Corp. today announced its latest milestone, surpassing 5 billion units picked with its autonomous mobile robots, or AMRs, across its global customer deployments. The company achieved this record just 24 weeks after reaching its 4 billionth pick in October 2024.

“This rapid acceleration highlights the transformative impact of Locus’ mobile automation technology and the growing urgency among global brands to modernize their fulfillment operations to deliver consistent high productivity,” said the Wilmington, Mass.-based company.

“Hitting 5 billion picks in record time is more than just a number — it’s proof that the industry is embracing mobile automation and physical AI at a whole new level,” stated Rick Faulk, CEO of Locus Robotics. “Our customers are scaling faster and more efficiently than ever before, and Locus is proud to be their trusted partner in driving this transformation.”

Spun out of Quiet Logistics in 2016, Locus said its LocusONE platform uses artificial intelligence and integrates its person-to-goods AMRs into existing environments to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and scale operations. The AMRs collaborate with warehouse associates, saving them from having to walk many miles per day.

Locus Robotics AMRs picks up the pace

Locus Robotics customers include more than 150 leading retail, e-commerce, healthcare, third-party logistics (3PL), and industrial brands at over 350 sites worldwide. For instance, in June 2024, DHL Supply Chain passed 500 million picks with its AMRs.

According to Faulk, the company knows exactly which customer site was involved and what item was picked for each of its milestones. Locus noted that its previous pick-rate records illustrate its exponential growth:

It offers its Locus Origin and Vector systems and warehouse software through a robotics-as-a-service (RaaS) model to ensure cost-effectiveness, scalability, and innovation without requiring significant capital expenditures.

The company claimed that its technology has proven capable of handling diverse workflows, from picking and replenishment to sorting and pack-out, “empowering businesses to meet peak demands and adapt to ever-changing operational needs.”

Locus isn’t resting its laurels. It recently announced its Locus Array mobile picking system at both ProMat in Chicago and LogiMAT in Stuttgart. Array is designed for high-volume, high-throughput fulfillment environments.
