Basically put your hand in front of the dogs face and say no or down keep your voice and demeanor strong. we have trained all our 18 dogs like that and it works
Neeed you man
This doesn’t work for my golden retriever because I’m just sad because you’re I wanna keep him in that can’t cause my mom says my dad said my mom is not taking care of the dogs, but she really is
To rephrae my last comment I am disabled and cant do the stand up method.
Can you advize me how to do this when your diabled an sitting down.?
Will some dogs always require a food reward? I'm hoping not!
What do you do if he starts chewing on the leash while they are sitting of lying in front of you?
My golden doodle bis crazy jumping on others not me
Thanks for ur video helped me lot to stop my gsd jumping, but I need to stop him biting playfully when he gets excited.
Whst would be interesting to see is if the dog will be as restrained when visitors go to the owners house. I trained my staffie to not jump on me but any visitors were enthusiastically welcomed! Necessary recognising the instructor in this video- visitors are a different situation!!
Thank you for having a husky. Mine is 8 yrs old and still a jumper, I will not stop till he’s got it mastered! And I use better techniques, calmness for one as it makes me ridiculously frustrated after all this time
There has to be a better way. If this dog is 90 pounds it won't work
Thank you! My almost 3 month old husky wants to chew on the leash constantly. We are working on leave it, which she can do, but doesn't always do. How do I get her to leave the leash so I can ste on it?
Dear Sir, I think your instructions are impossible to get done with Doberman because Doberman are so stubborn that husky is so poor
This got so boring so fast
Your role modeling the focus on a 'win' for the dog has been super helpful to me with an ADHD doggie…it works!!!
When I shorten the leash for my Golden Doodle, she just bites my ankles. She has shredded a jacket that I wear by jumping and biting. I am just so frustrated. I will keep working.
Excellent in many ways
My dog only responds to firm commands and physical reinforcement for jumping ei. Lifting your knee and showing a human “nip” ei let him jump into your knee and using the leash. They are just soft and soft doesn’t work on some dogs. I have a work bred dobie and they just cannot do as taught by the trainers if they are scared they yell and freak out and run. My family can’t do it and keep him engaged, the family just don’t get it. Some people do and know to stay calm and firm and gauge his behavior and do calming things to control him by using “dog gestures”
My staffy won’t stop wanting to greet everyone he sees! Thinks everyone wants to say hello! I know he’s only 5 months old but he plants himself and tough to get him to move l
My English bulldog jumps only on outside people. My Mom and I are " immune" but everyone else is not.
She is very excited when she sees a racquet, or a Nerf gun, and also suring the World Cup whenever we were commemorating a goal.
Do you leave that second leash on him when he’s in the house? My dog chews his leash off if I leave it on him. Oh dear.
Hello
I really need some help in for my hyper 27 lb mut female who's 1 1/2. She is full of energy and cannot control sense of smell. She can open cabinets, get into trash, and everything in between. Probably the worst thing she does if chairs aren't pulled in is jump from chairs onto table. She's very smart and trainable knows settle leave it off sits down crate trained and never has accident in house. The thing is when she knows she made bad choice she roll on her back. I need to take care of this before it's too late.
Need help bad.
Thanks Dana
Hi! Thank you for your videos, we are new to watching the McCann channel. We have a female boxer, just a year old this month. She’s a serious jumper when people come over- sitters, kids friends. She is determined to get to them so she can kiss them, pretty much maul them with kisses and excitement. I am going to try this technique straight away. We have been working with her since she was six months old, but couldn’t ever get the jumping under control yet. For the training leash- does it have to be a specific length? Also, eventually, down the road, if we are persistent. Will she learn to do this automatically when people come over? Thanks!!
I have a 11month old husky shepherd mix who loves to jump on people when they come over and I'm afraid to walk her as she pulled me down and her leash slipped from my hand and got away from me to go and try to play with a lady and her small dog I tried every thing and nothing works
Great video!
What if I’m standing on the line, and my dog is chewing on it? I don’t know what to do 🥲
Great video I'm going to try this with my Borderjack.
Thank you! Great tips!
Fantastic! Can’t wait to put this into practice.
His name should be Boingo 😂
I have two dogs. One is obnoxious when working with the other. How do I train one by itself without the other bothering or barking!
Omg thank you for this!!!! My dog is the same. Will definitely try this training on him
I did this with my dog and initially she stopped jumping. But then she started grabbing the leash to start a different "game" so we're now working on both behaviors.
Tried this for a week with both my dogs at separate intervals. They found 2 of their 4 leashes and destroyed them. Also, read a comment below, dogs have the same issue when walking. In fact, one of my dogs "will not" walk on 4 paws, she will walk on 2 paws pulling forward. Almost at wits end.
I needed to see this.
Today I changed my dog’s name to Satan.
She’s destroyed my last good nerve along with all of my patience.
Well this is very good while the dog isstanding in front of us …. how would you do that by walking?
This is the first time I've seen a dog trainer show how 5o correct jumping without having a helper brilliant
Great!
Very good approach …
Great video, Any suggestions to train a dog not to jump on other people/kids, 2 year old ridge back she doesn't jump on me but will jump on everyone else, Thanks
I tried this and it WORKS! I used a six ft leash and a 4 ft leash. When my golden doodle jumps I drop the short leash and step on it. Amazing….this actually works!!!!
Great idea! Wonderful way to help owners with dogs that jumps! Thanks
I'm pretty sure my 9 months rottweiler was a rsbbit in her last life 😭I'll try this on her. She loves people but she's big and people got scared every time
I’ll be trying this with my boy. I use the house line and have an extra leash!
you always have to give them a treat a treat to listen to you
what can you do when you go and visit and a dog jumps all over you not pay attention to him pay attention to him so he won't jump I try not to say hello to him but he's still jumps stop
