The Big Con developer Mighty Yell confirms layoffs

The Big Con and A Knight in the Attic developer Mighty Yell has laid off an undisclosed number of employees.

The fully remote studio shared the news on Bluesky and explained a “few” team members have been laid off due to financial challenges.

“This is not a decision we came to easily, and we know the impact it will have on our team and community,” reads the post.

“We want to be as transparent as possible regarding the layoffs and the difficult state of funding in games. We are still on track for the release of All Systems Dance, and we will share news about the launch very soon, but right now what’s important is supporting our team through this tough time.”

Mighty Yell said it wished it could have avoided the layoffs but was ultimately forced to axe some roles. It has implored other companies with open positions to consider hiring those impacted by the cuts.

Job losses across all corners of the industry

Layoffs continue to decimate the video game industry. A number of major companies made have made sweeping redundancies over the past two years including Microsoft, Sony, Embracer Group, EA, Unity, Meta, Take-Two and more.

Those cuts have continued into 2025. Since the turn of the year, swathes of developers at Netflix Games, WB Games, NetEase, Crytek, Iron Galaxy, BioWare, Phoenix Labs, Ubisoft, Huuuge, Soul Assembly, Bossa Games, Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montreal, and many others have all lost their jobs.
