What happens when you take the mechanics of Smash Up and distil them down to their basic essence and remove all of the clutter? You get a better version of the same game that plays twice as quick and fits in a box that you can toss in your carry-on or take to a pub. No mixing factions – you have one. No huge stacks of cards – just the basics you need. No being stuck – you can kill off an opponent's stack quite easily. Plus, more sneaky back-stabbing and adversarial rules. Amazing. And the box is big enough to fit 3-4 expansions and sleaves. Absolutely buy this game. 11/10 best game of the year for the money.

I used to play MTG competitively 15 years ago and this game looks amazing… Netrunnner plus mtg, but a complete set and semi-drafting. Was able to get the main set at Barnes and Noble today despite the supposed supply issues. Can't wait to try it with some friends that used to play mtg
What's the text on the "base" cards in each column? On the loading side, there's an ability there. What's it do? like FLIP, MANUPULATE, etc.
Looks like a neat ruleset but when Matt (?) said he didn't care much about the theme while playing it, the game lost me.
Each game, board, legacy or not, or RPG, is a story for me. The weaker the theme, the weaker the story and fun for me usually.
This has been sold out since the day this review was posted.

Beautiful production, cards look great, very cool theme… Unbelievably boring, 0 challenge, just plays fast and lame. I will use the box as a deck box for a Magic deck. I don't know what all the hype is about.

Omen: A Reign of War is another phenomenal take on this style of game. It’s every bit as good (probably better) than the likes of Air Land and Sea, Compile, Smash Up, etc.

I first saw this at PAX East, and I picked it up at Gen Con primarily because I thought the cards looked cool with their particular finish and foil accents 😅. Lucky for me, the game was surprisingly interesting on top of this
