If xbox eventually partners eith steam could they add their store/gamepass to the older steam deck through an update or would you have to purchase the new steam deck?
Valve should release a Steam Deck 2 , Theirs a lot of people waiting on the Legion 2 (valve edition ) and is very probably they will swap to Lenovo if it plays games better
The problem in those devices are not the spec's. Even if someone put more powerful CPU/GPU/RAM etc. The key is always going to be power efficiency and power consumption and heat management.
Razer is notably one of the biggest scammers on the market with their laptops – they provide on spreadsheet the high end gaming laptops in tiny factor – but they lower the power consumption of those theoretically powerful components to manage better energy and heat and makes them in actual use mediocre.
Same goes with handheld consoles – there is no significant change in how to manage power and heat and that's why Valve is not making Steam Deck 2 as of now – because it would be a gimmick.
All those handheld variants are just flavors of the same power and heat to performance ratio. One decides to put slightly better components and maybe allow for a bit higher power consumption to be able to deliver better performance maybe to allow higher resolution or higher game fidelity in graphical options but at the cost of battery usage etc. However, you pay for better components that are undervolted and while you pay full price for the component potential – you are getting only % of that due to power management.
Long story short – it appears that Valve with steam deck just put the sufficient components for the power consumption to achieve optimal and somehow balanced trade between battery time, game fidelity and resolution and FPS to what's currently possible.
Others decided to shift things a bit on the spectrum so everyone can pick what's more important to them – however, I feel that many of those companies are just playing with marketing, same as Razer is doing, advocating that their device spec wise is better and you should think that equals better gaming experience. This could be false to your expectations – because simply put we don't have technology available yet to make a generation leap to substantionally better hand-held devices.
the Legion Go S with Z1 Extreme, VRR 1080p looks promising.
If I were going to buy right now I would get the steam deck oled. However, if I didn’t mind waiting I would just wait for the legion go 2 and expect to spend $1k. I guess it depends on what you like to play.
I want a Steam Deck 2!
Issue I have with lenovo is that console is not much stronger then steam deck
Genuinely don't understand why Lenovo didn't launch the new Go S with OLED. Huge L
As someone who mainly plays Remotely, the lack of trackpads and back buttons on the Legion Go S is no replacement for the Steam Deck
Steam deck oled is the best handheld console LOVE IT ❤
steam deck oled desgin is just amazing but the chip is outdated for AAA games if only we get new better chip from valve and AMD ❤
buys steam deck Oled now, LLGs later
I mean the steam deck is and was built the same things… made with old outdated parts.. that's how they made it work…. and with the NS. If nintendo made a better hand i will wait to buy another steam handle. I miss mine and I've been itching tu buy one or the other. Its a good time to be alive… and enjoy it games
Will they allow the steam os versio. To dual boot it with windows? I would like to use it as a Handheld Windows PC. If you are why not just buy the Windows version because the Steam OS will be priced at $499 while the Windows version is at $749.
With valve making their steam os public i don't think there's ever going to be a sd2
I grew up with a gameboy. I love nice graphics, but for a handheld, it should simply run the games fluently for a long time and be handy. Not too big or not heavy. Perfect on the hands
Picked to a 200 dollar lcd SD from a buddy who never used it there a new memory card in and it’s great! Will definitely be a great intro into pc gaming as console gamer
The go S is the worst deal in handhelds you can get. It has a 6800u in it with a binned cpu. So you won't get better performance then the deck until like 20w compared to the deck at 12w. So your battery life will be bad. If you wanted a more powerful handheld you get an Ally x, ally z1e, original legion go, the msi, or the upcoming zotac with the hx370. The windows version of the goS lenovo is out of their minds with the pricing. The ally x is barely more money and cheaper when on sale for a better apu, faster ram, and much larger battery. For a cheaper price is power is what you want both the original go and z1e ally can be had for about 500. Then you can install bazzite on any of them. So what market is this handheld going for other then the uninformed buyer?
Honestly I’d just wait for the z2 extreme devices and steamos to be released to the public. Going from a steam deck to the rog ally was a nice bump but going from the steam deck to the legion go 2 or rog ally 2 will be a generational leap.
Moonlight and sunshine… that’s where the steam deck shines, streaming from your pc to the deck with barely a latency o notice…
The trackpad is to much of a pros that i bought it to play strategy game and looter shooter.. both trackpad can be set as one of four item item button. and it also work as a mouse for aiming and pointing. with trackball effect disable, it feel like aiming like playing cod on mobile. really love it. The rigidity of SD. Bought Steam Deck Oled 1TB, upgraded to 2TB with Jsaux casing. That casing saved me on my last fun ride. slide on my bike after passing black stuff on the road (oil/sludge from big engine i guess?) SD slide with me. Casing saved the joystick and screen. Turn on and play while waiting for tow no issue. haha
When You Have A Steam Deck and Play Pokemon Uranium Chefs Kiss
I want Valve to update the Deck! That's what I'm waiting for no matter how long it takes.
I went with the ally when it released, constant using bazzite on it. That said I will absolutely be buying the deck 2!
Thanks for this video my brother definitely gonna pick up a Oled
same battery so idc. Having better performance is cool and all but if im paying hundreds of dollars more for a device that runs for about the same amount of time its just not worth it.
If the Legion GO S is not coming out with OLED display, there's nothing to consider honestly
I had the steam deck oled this is my opinion. If you are a hard core gaming that trying to avoid sitting in front of a screen to go steam deck instead bad idea. Yes the steam deck oled is good but after you have it you will miss the feeling of playing your games on high settings
Don't buy either. Wait until they finally put SteamOS on a current chip. Legion Go S's Z2 Go is just a repackaged AMD 6800U…which a few years old already.
Easy answer – Wait for the Legion Go 2
