Huawei held an event today to showcase its latest wearables. Alongside those we saw the announcement of a new tablet and the international release of another set of TWS earbuds.
The tablet is called MatePad Pro 12.2″ and is a natural evolution from the 2024 version launched last summer. It has a PaperMatte display with a Tandem OLED panel underneath, but it retains the same 508g body, 10,100 mAh battery and 100W wired charging.
The earbuds are the Freebuds 6, available in China since March 2025. They offer AI noise cancelling and a redesigned audio driver for clearer output.
As the name suggests, the MatePad Pro has a 12.2″ screen. It has a resolution of 2,800 x 1840 pixels and upgrades to 3,000 nits peak brightness. Thanks to the PaperMatte display technology, the tablet significantly reduces glare and reflection.
The tablet still has a dual camera setup on the back, with a 50 MP main snapper and an 8 MP ultrawide camera for those unusual moments when you have to take a group photo with a 12-inch slate.
Huawei generally does not talk about its chipsets, so we can only assume it runs on the Kirin 9000S platform – we have nothing official. The tablet does come with EMUI on the international market, but interestingly, it is not available in China, so we don’t know whether it runs Huawei’s self-developed HarmonyOS Next.
Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2″ comes bundled with a magnetic keyboard. The 12/256 GB version is €849.99 (not available in the UK), while the 12/512 GB variant, which is the only one with the PaperMatte display, is £899.99/€999.99.
The Freebuds 6 have the unique waterdrop-shaped (they call it droplet) stem, which is 12% smaller and 9% lighter than the predecessor. Huawei is now using AI for multi-channel noise reduction, and can filter up to 95 dB of unwanted noise.
The company advertised a feature first implemented in the Freebuds Pro 4 – the ability to have a clear call while in a noisy environment, like a loud concert or a sports game. The Freebuds 6 has an AI agent in China, which is disabled in the international units.
The price of Huawei Freebuds 6 is £139.99/€159.99. The audio wearables are already available on the Huawei Store.
